Created attachment 167848 [details] Menu open When adding a svg file in background, different problems occurs. 1. I thought it would be impossible, as the tab is officially named "bitmap", but it works 2. Formatting a whole page in background, not only the text zone, is somewhat a pain in the ass, but at last it's possible Now the worst I think 3. The images used are not shown in the bitmap windows 4. Using the same image file with correction seems to work, until the document file is reloaded. In this case the formatting displays the first image ever loaded with the same name. Changing the name given to the "bitmap" when loading makes things fine, as far as the image is the right one So it looks as some mess in the management of background images, with no possibility to delete unused images. Not a big issue for me as the image size is tiny, some 30ko, but could be a real issue if I made an error loading a fat one. But anyway it's an unsafe behavior. PS. The attachment doesn't show all the possibilities given in the menu, but the files are not at the bottom either.
Adding UX 1) I would say it's possible to rename Bitmap to "Image". Related to configuring. 2) I agree it's rather painful to configure the bitmap aspects properly (not even 100% sure if the dialog being bug free, but that's another topic) A direction would be to add number of presets for most 'common' used configurations.
(In reply to Telesto from comment #1) Another topic would be where 'new added' bitmaps land in the dialog, at the bottom (as currently) or on top.. If you add an image you probably gonna use it, so adding it at the bottom of the bitmap list not the obvious thing to do?

Yes, see bug 95394 (In reply to bronco78 from comment #0) > 2. Formatting a whole page in background, not only the text zone, is > somewhat a pain in the ass, but at last it's possible PITA is not an actionable bug report. Better report a use case like "I want to have a background for the paragraph" (use Paragraph, whether direct formatting or style, > Area) or "I want to have a background on a part of the page" (use a section or a text box) allow us to reply. > 3. The images used are not shown in the bitmap windows It is, once you load the dialog again. The issue has been reported in bug 125969. > 4. Using the same image file with correction seems to work... Don't understand this but it has likely also a duplicate. Please check the meta ticket bug 113224. Resolving this ticket as NAB (you can apply the image to the page/paragraph background). Please reopen if the mentioned duplicates don't cover all topics.
