Description Katharina 2021-03-11 12:09:27 UTC
Description:
Whenever I try to open Libre Office, it crashes with a blue screen, even in safe mode.
Already tried reinstalling, renaming the user files and much more. Did not change anything before, except (maybe) Windows updates. Tryed deinstalling recent Win Updates, but this didn`t fix the problem.
When opening in safe mode, it is possible to create and safe a new document, and it is possible to open old .xls files. But, as soon as newer .od...something files are opened, blue screen is shown.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Simply trying to open Libre Office
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Blue screen

Expected Results:
Working....

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
Tryed with and without OpenGL.

Could you give a try at https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps ?

If you still reproduce this, perhaps you should give a try at brand new 7.1.1?
Comment 3 Mike Kaganski 2021-03-12 07:53:09 UTC
By the way, you have mentioned a *blue screen* (a system STOP error?), but provided a screenshot of a dialog with an error. Please describe which blue screen do you mean, and provide screenshots of it (e.g. taken from screen using a camera), or the error codes shown there. Thanks!

Sorry, but I tried all of this several times, with both 7.0.4 as well as 7.1.1 before I wrote to bugzilla.

Yes, sorry. The error window sometimes (not always) comes firs, before the blue screen. I attached the blue screen, too, now.

Please see bug 140952 comment 1. Its description also tells that the problem started to appear when user installed a security update from MS, and uninstalling it made it work correctly. It would be useful to know which update was that... anyway, this is definitely a system bug (either of Windows, or of some device driver), that happens to be triggered by use of system functions by LibreOffice. As a first step, please try to force Skia software rendering, and report if that fixed it. Also please tell your video hardware model and driver version.
Comment 8 Mike Kaganski 2021-03-12 13:05:16 UTC
See bug 140952 comment 6. In the end, it looks like not related to video (and thus it is unlikely to be solved by forcing Skia software mode), but to some printer. Could you please tell which printer and printer driver you are using?
Comment 9 Julien Nabet 2021-03-12 20:35:08 UTC
If related to printer, it could be useful to check you got last stable driver from your printer.

from see also https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140997#c2

This is known and NOB, if you are affected will depend on the printers you have installed for use by LibreOffice and other products.

Removing the printers, they get recorded into your LibreOffice profile, should help--but it is really up to Microsoft to fix issues with KB5000802 (or KB5000808, KB5000809, KB5000822 for older Win10 builds).
Comment 11 Katharina 2021-03-15 11:24:40 UTC
Thank you, this solved the problem. Seems, that the KB5000808 update, in combination with my Kyocera printer was the problem.

Thanks a lot for your help!
