Description: I've searched around and can only find this request in other message boards, not BugZilla, so I'd like this to get resolved once and for all. It's a HIGHLY misunderstood request because the word 'outline' has way too many definitions. I apologize in advance if this gets too wordy because this really warrants a proper description. In Impress/Draw, create a text box, type a word. Right-click the text box > Edit Style... > Font Effects > Outline (check box) What this feature does: Takes the font color (default, black), wraps the letter in a border of that color, then turns the letter itself white (so it's white letter with a black border). What this feature needs: -the ability to choose the color of the letter itself (ex: black border around yellow instead of white) -the ability to adjust the thickness of the border around the letter (1px, 5px, etc) -(optional) the ability to change the line type (solid, dashed, double, etc) FontWork/Intersecting Shapes is NOT a viable solution, I have many slides with lots of words (lyrics) that need to be changed on the fly, doing all that with shape objects would take forever. TLDR: the font outline feature exists in LibreOffice but is painfully incomplete. It has been around on PowerPoint/Keynote for years. **Note: Please understand this feature request before marking it as a duplicate, as it always gets confused with another completely non-related feature. That's a big part of the reason why this seemingly basic feature has still not been implemented all these years later. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create Text Box and type a word 2. Right-click the text box > Edit Style... > Font Effects (tab) 3. Check box that says Outline towards the bottom Actual Results: Places black border around white letter Expected Results: Ability to choose color of Border AND Letter, as well as border line thickness. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Given me the option to choose the color of the letter itself, the color of the border around the letter, and the thickness of the line that makes up the border.
It does not "wraps the letter in a border of that color", rather only the strokes of the glyphs are rendered in the font color--but with outline effect there is then no fill with the font color--the interiors of the glyph remain white. Set the area fill to a color for the draw TextBox--the "counters" will show the area fill of the TextBox. Not clear there is any real advantage to providing differing stroke and fill color controls for glyphs in sd TextBox; but it should be possible.

While these methods work simple tasks, they're too clumsy and time consuming for large amounts of text across multiple slides (ie song lyrics), especially since I use software to build my slideshows automatically from plaintext files (pptxgenJS) I don't mean to be short tempered, but it's frustrating to see how easily misunderstood this one feature request is. I just want the freedom to change the outline color and font color to whatever pairing necessary, as well as the ability to adjust the thickness of that line color.
