Description Oksana Ivanova 2021-08-05 19:48:16 UTC
Description:
Text AutoSave option doesn't save changes during the work with a document and after restoring.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create (or open) a document in Writer and add a new text to it. In the parameters "Option" - "Load/Save" - "Save" set up Save AutoRecovery information, for example, every 1 minute.
2.Don't perform any more actions for the next 1 minute. After 60-70 seconds, force the app to terminate, for example, turn off the computer.
3. Open the document again, press "Start" to restore the document you edited and after the restore procedure check, if the added text is saved.
4. Then during the next 60-70 seconds start typing random text. After that, force the app to be shutted down again as in the p. 2.
5. Open this document again. After the restore procedure check, if the added text is saved.

The steps also were reproduced for the time periods:

1. when enable option "Save AutoRecovery information" for 1 min (PC restarted after: more than in 1 min (e.g. 70 seconds ) and then in less than 1 min (e.g. 40 seconds))
2. when enable option "Save AutoRecovery information" for 2 min (PC restarted after: more than in 2 min (e.g. 2 min 30 seconds) and then in less than 2 min (e.g. 1 min 30 seconds))
3. when enable option "Save AutoRecovery information" for 5 min (PC restarted after more than in 5 min (e.g. 5 min 30 seconds) and then in less than 5 min (e.g. 4 min 30 seconds)).

Actual Results:
Text AutoSave option doesn't save changes during the work with a document and after restoring.

Expected Results:
Text AutoSave option always saves changes during the work with a document and after restoring.

Reproducible: Always

Hello Oksana Ivanova!

Thanks for the information provided.
Please clarify the information from "The steps were also reproduced for the time periods:". Have you rebooted your computer, then opened the file, and then rebooted again? Or did you add something to this file? Information that was added the first time or the second time has not been saved?

Thank you!

Regards,
Aleksandra

Hello Aleksandra.
Yes, i have added some text to the document to understand if it is saved or not. Yes, i rebooted my pc as in the "Steps to Reproduce". In the "The steps also were reproduced for the time periods" i specified the time periods of the same actions.

I repro both on Windows and Linux (kill via Task Manager or htop), but I can't get a reliable bibisect result. At first it seemed to appear in 7.3 repo, but then I couldn't repro with the last commit in 7.3. 7.4 repo showed the problem just now both with oldest and latest. Tested by always creating a new document and not saving.
