Description PeeWee 2022-04-14 08:54:27 UTC
Description:
Two commands in Impress 7.3 do not work when creating a presentation. The commands are Slide > Summary Slide and Slide > Expand Slide on the Menu bar. Both commands are greyed out.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. In a presentation, select a slide using a layout.
2. Go to Slide > Summary Slide or Slide > Expand Slide on the Menu bar.
3. Both commands are greyed out indicating the commands cannot be used.

Actual Results:
No results. Commands cannot be used.

Expected Results:
A summary slide should be created, or another slide created from an expanded slide.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
In LibreOffice Help, these two commands are listed as Insert > Summary Slide and Insert > Expand Slide. These two commands do not exist in the Insert menu on the Menu bar.

The LO Help entries are as follows:

Summary Slide
Creates a new slide that contains an unordered list from the titles of the slides that follow the selected slide. The summary slide is inserted behind the last slide.
To access this command...
Choose Insert - Summary Slide

Expand Slide
Creates a new slide from every top-level outline point (text one level below the title text in the outline hierarchy) in the selected slide. The outline text becomes the title of the new slide. Outline points below the top level on the original slide are moved up one level on the new slide.
To access this command...
Choose Insert - Expand Slide
You can only use the Expand Slide command if your slide layout contains a title object and an outline object.
If you want to keep the original slide, choose Edit - Undo.

Found one solution for Slide > Summary Slide and Slide > Expand Slide.
The solution is to have an outline created before using these two commands.

However, the LibreOffice Help has to be corrected as follows:

Change Insert > Summary Slide and Insert > Expand Slide to show Slide > Summary Slide and Slide > Expand Slide.

Confirmed.

As it was not mentioned in the description: Summary Slide becomes enabled after you write something into the title box of a slide.
