Description Timur 2022-10-03 10:57:20 UTC
Cannot select in table or delete column in 2nd table of attachment 126378 [details].
It was reported in bug 101091 marked duplicate of bug 46733 resolved in 7.5+.

Problem seems Inherited, although in different LO version behavior was either not to be able to select in table at all or not to be able to delete columns or rows.
Was reported in bug 142299 but without sample document.

Repro with

Version: 7.4.1.2 / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 40(Build:2)
CPU threads: 16; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: kf5 (cairo+xcb)
Locale: pt-BR (pt_BR.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Ubuntu package version: 1:7.4.1~rc2-0ubuntu0.22.04.1~lo1
Calc: threaded

Also repro with

Version: 7.5.0.0.alpha0+ / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 93925ec1f610d95a426231baf9a42128c773bb38
CPU threads: 16; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: kf5 (cairo+xcb)
Locale: pt-BR (pt_BR.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: CL threaded

In the second table, selecting any row or column won't enable the "Delete" commands for the table.

I don't think that this is a bug. The table simply is write protected.

STR:
1. ˋOpen linked Samlpe document
2. In Table 2 Click into "Y1" between "Y" and "1"
3. [Del]
» Message appears: "Protected contents can't be edited"
So the table simply is write protected.

You're very right.

Selecting the table and right-clicking it shows an option "Unprotect cells". After unprotecting the cells, it will be possible to delete rows and columns.

I'm closing this as NAB.

2fast4me,

yes, that's also my result. I did unprotect via Navigator Sidebar for that table.
Comment 5 Timur 2022-10-04 09:38:05 UTC
That NAB can only be valid if user can right-click on table (as s/he would naturally try this and should see it). I can do it only in Windows. So I mark Linux and set Unconfirmed.

I cannot click in or select table at all in 7.5+ gtk3 or kf5, no way to put cursor in Y1 (I wrote I was able to in some older versions), I can only select with a previous paragraph, but no right-click or menu option "Unprotect cells" then.

I can select with 7.4. So please test with 7.5+ in Linux.

I can select table with 7.4 bibisect repo master but not already with 7.5 oldest.

Hi Timur,

I'm on a very recent build of LO 7.5 (from Friday) and I can select the second table (with protected cells).

I'm on Linux (Kubuntu 22.04) using kf5 (Plasma 5.25)

I also don't see this with a new profile.
In those cases we close reports as problem is not clear - but it exists somewhere, with some setting.
So NAB. Thanks for clarifying.
