Description Mihai Vasiliu 2022-10-26 14:11:13 UTC
Description:
In the presentation attached, if I add any more characters to the last line and save the presentation, on reopening the presentation all added characters are missing and cannot be recovered.

Steps to Reproduce:
I was working on a new presentation in odp format, writing text on the slide from scratch, saved the presentation. Then when I reopened the presentation, the last lines were missing.

If I try to reopen and rewrite the lines, they do not save anymore. Any other lines on other slides are getting saved. (I removed all slides except the one with the issue).

1. Open the attached presentation
2. Write any characters on the end of the last line
3. Save the presentation
4. Open it again and see that all characters written are now missing.

I cannot reproduce it with another new presentation.

Actual Results:
The newly added text is missing.

Expected Results:
The text should be saved.

Reproducible: Always

I can reproduce the problem with the attached file. But I'm not able to create a new file which has this problem, and I do not see any special in the file markup.

Tested with Version: 7.5.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community

Comment 3 Regina Henschel 2022-10-26 20:09:57 UTC
Yes, it seem to be a problem with animation as reported in bug 151379. If I remove the animation, save and reload, then appending text works.
Comment 4 Regina Henschel 2022-10-26 20:13:02 UTC
There is no such problem in Version: 7.1.5.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community

Comment 7 Mihai Vasiliu 2022-10-27 09:51:34 UTC
You are right, this seems related to the animation, as I noticed the same behaviour on other slides of mine, but only on those with animation applied.

Strangely enough, if I remove the animation, the issue is still present on the first save, but if I reopen the document and re-save again, the issue is gone.

If I now reopen again and re-apply the animation and add more text, the issue is back.

After reading the string of comments. I see the "animation" tie.

To overcome the issue, I have had to make numerous slides. (* A slide for every animation, and have the slides advance automatically instead of as a direct animation "after previous." *)

So that would seem to corroborate animation within a slide.

However, it only seems to pop on certain slides. Not every slide with animation is targeted.

So, maybe a specification animation? or sequence of animations?

Comment 12 Bob Corbin 2023-02-16 20:03:13 UTC
I downloaded 7.6.0.0 from the provided link and restarted my computer.

I fixed my slides from last night (the bug occurred again). Closed the presentation file. After a few minutes, I reopened and ran the presentation.

The EXACT same three slides which were chopped, were chopped again. Two of the text boxes were "Entrance: Wipe - Left" and one was "Entrance: Wipe - Right"

The first occurrence (Right Wipe) deletes the final two letters.

The second occurrence (Left Wipe) deleted the final one letter.

The third occurrence (Left Wipe) deleted a phrase but ended in the middle of a word.

Can you provide screenshot from attached file before save? I would like to see where and what exactly write, still cannot reproduce on my PC.

The duplicate at bug 151379 might be of use

I could reproduce this at commit 9063d99ff5ee43cc1239fc1dbb5d9897bdda1c9b mentioned in bug 151379 when using 7.5 bibisect repo, but not with the following bibisect build. Closing as WFM.
