Description: When graphics are inserted as a hyperlink, the url changes when the document is moved to another folder. It's not possible to correct the url manually, graphics don't show again. Steps to Reproduce: graphics in folder file:///Z:/Grafik/logo.svg file in folder Z:/Docs file moved to Z:/Docs/test graphics url changes to file:///Z:/Docs/Grafik/logo.svg Actual Results: graphics url changes to file:///Z:/Docs/Grafik/logo.svg Expected Results: Graphic url should not change automatically, especially not to a folder that doesn't exist. When changing url manually, graphic should be displayed again. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: -
Please test how you have the option: Menu/Tools/Option/Load-Save/General - Save URL relative to file system. https://help.libreoffice.org/7.5/en-US/text/shared/optionen/01010200.html?&DbPAR=WRITER&System=WIN
This option seems to address the problem, but I don't understand why it's a general option. If I insert a graphic with the option "link", it's always inserted as an absolute url, independent from the option settings. Wouldn't it be better to ask the user when he inserts the graphic, if he wants an absolute or relative url? Then only relative urls should be altered when moving the file.
Because of the option, it's not for document but general. LibreOffice always shows the whole path, no matter what the option status. But if relative, the path complete path it's showed properly adapted.
Strange behaviour. I can decide for every single graphic whether I embed it or link it. Why I should not decide whether the link is relative or absolute? It makes no sense to decide that for all documents. And why are relative links shown as absolute links???
How hard to read some words. Bye.
I red all words and don't understand it. I can't even figure out if a link in a document is relative or absolute. What if you open a document from another PC with other general settings? Will all the links in it then be converted?
As m.a.riosv explained, the behaviour is expected. You might be interested in this other report, related to the display of relative links, which should hopefully clarify if links are relative or absolute: bug 128216. For now, I am closing this specific report as "not a bug".
No, its NOT solved. Give me an explanation why it should be an expected behaviour??? Bug 128216 describes the problem in detail, but ist's also NOT solved. The solution ist very easy: let the user choose between inserting an absolute or relative link to the graphic. Show relative links as: ../link/graphic Show absolute links as: C:/link/graphic
I marked this bug report as "solved - not a bug" because that is the language we have to use on this platform to categorise a report that describes a behaviour that works as intended. You are right, the issue you describe in your last comments is not yet solved. It is however already discussed in other, older bug reports. I mentioned bug 128216, which is about clarifying the display of relative links, but there is also an enhancement request that (if a developer decides to work on it) should make the situation better: bug 111957. Happy to mark your report as a duplicate of the enhancement request instead. Please feel free to participate in the conversation there. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 111957 ***
I cannot believe that: 10 years discussions about inserting relative links? The first thread goes back to 2012!!!! So we have a link jubilee!! As far as I've skimmed the topic, I did not find a single reason why inserting absolute and relative links shouldn't work on document level....
