Description: There are a number of menu entries which are either visible, or greyed out, and which simply do nothing in the version released through the Apple appstore. This misleads the user into thinking that these menu entries can in some way be activated, whether by configuration or further payment, as is the case with other limited functionality software available through the AppStore, when in fact this is not the case. The end result, when the user discovers this, is disappointment, deception and a feeling of frustration. In order to avoid or reduce the negative impact on the product that these discoveries create, it would be better to remove or hide those menu entries completely. Steps to Reproduce: 1. As an example of stuff that doesn't work and which has a greyed out menu entry, with a document open, look at the File > Send menu entries, where most are greyed out. 2. Another example, all DB UI wizards. Actual Results: UI has entries that do nothing. Expected Results: Don't show UI entries that do nothing. Remove or hide them from the UI. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: Version: 7.4.6.2 / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 5b1f5509c2decdade7fda905e3e1429a67acd63d CPU threads: 8; OS: Mac OS X 13.2.1; UI render: default; VCL: osx Locale: fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8); UI: fr-FR Calc: threaded
Confirmed. I add: not limited to the macOS App Store version, but also related to all versions relating the macOS platform (the update button/function for instance. Or the UI for hardware acceleration for instance). Please remove such functions and UI elements entirely, if dysfunctional or not functional at all or not needed at all or never has worked at all. Please communicate with the user with a clear, functional user interface, not with one, which disturbes and unsettles or nerves the user or leaves him questioning.
Well, basically everything regarding Base is also... not working.
Issue still reproducible in Version: 7.5.9.2 (AARCH64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: cdeefe45c17511d326101eed8008ac4092f278a9 CPU threads: 8; OS: Mac OS X 14.1.1; UI render: default; VCL: osx Locale: fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8); UI: fr-FR Calc: threaded
Dear Alex Thurgood, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!
