A user on IRC raised a concern about what is being sent in the crash reports, and why is it not an option to disable sending them, during installation. > By default, there is a on-by-default setting deep in the settings of > Writer/LibreOffice which says "Send crash reports to The Document Foundation". > This is never communicated and allowed to uncheck during the installation. > This freaks me out. What "crash data" data is it sending if this is enabled? > If it has anything to do with file names, file CONTENTS, or anything about my > computer or myself, it's horrible. > Since it's not mentioned and there is no "More info" or anything, I'm left at > guessing. And I'm assuming the worst these days. The respective help [1] should emphasize the (already mentioned there, but not enough) fact that *when the option is enabled*, the user will be asked before each send; and disabling the option disables the whole feature - but when enabled, it will never send without additional request. And the help should also point to the respective Privacy Policy [2] section I.XI "Absturzberichte (crash reports)", which is the authoritative information about what is sent, and how it is processed.
