Description Felix Rudolphi 2023-05-31 20:03:50 UTC
Description:
In Impress, offer options "Contain" and "Cover" like in CSS
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/object-fit
I had typed more here, but it was lost as the validations found one field was not selected, not very convenient either

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Impress > Slide > Background image
2. Select wide or narrow one
3. Try adjusting in Slide properties > Background > Position

Actual Results:
Image is displayed distorted
Fiddling around with cm size calculations is not convenient

Expected Results:
Offer options "Contain" and "Cover"

Reproducible: Always

Thank you for reporting the bug. How are you adjusting the slide properties? Are you moving the position of the slide, or changing the width and or height? Can you please attach a sample image, as this will help verify the bug.

I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' once the requested document and information is provided.

Comment was lost after uploading the attachments...
Finding an aspect ratio by 'visual judgement' actually works, but is not convenient. Changes of slide format would require manual re-adjustments.

Comments keep getting lost, now I type this for 3rd time...
Making adjustments by hand actually works, but is not convenient and requires 'visual judgement'. If format of slides is changed subsequently, all backgrounds would require re-adjustment. Should be automatic, maintaining aspect ratio.
