Description miltonh26 2023-07-20 02:21:40 UTC
OS: Manjaro KDE Plasma 5.27.6
Libreoffice: 7.5.4.2 Flatpak

Global Menus are not displaying in LO and Plasma, leaving LO without any menus. Specifically in Calc.

Had to revert to X11 and they displayed normally. Tried the Manjaro Gnome Desktop and the menus displayed as expected, although as a standard menu bar in the window of the application and not as global menus as done in Plasma.

I have also seen this behavior using the official repository LO installation.

(Reason for using the flatpak was to solve the issue with LO taskbar application icons not displayed in Wayland and KDE with the official repository installation. The flatpak did correct this issue, by the way.)

Turns out this is different to bug 152362.
Copying from bug 152362 comment 8:

** LO as flatpak currently only use the gtk VCL plugin.
** This issue of gtk + Wayland on Plasma has been known for a while: https://github.com/flathub/org.libreoffice.LibreOffice/issues/63 and https://github.com/flathub/org.libreoffice.LibreOffice/issues/234 and https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424485
** Allowing the flatpak to use the Qt backend would likely help: https://github.com/flathub/org.libreoffice.LibreOffice/issues/270

So I am closing as "not our bug" and recommend following up with the linked issues. (Unless someone thinks of a different way to fix it?)

Thank you!
