Created attachment 189613 [details] ODP Open Impress presentation, like attached. Open Sidebar – Styles and Formatting – Presentation Styles. 1st issue: Click in slide outlines does not proprly reflect Outline level in Sidebar 2nd issue: Try to change Outline level by clicking Outline 1, 2, 3, 4 in Sidebar - NOK. I can only use Promote/Demote toolbar buttons. Not sure if a bug or I do not use it properly.
What do you expect to see? The shape is a drawing object, not a presentation object, and slide layout has title and subtitle, but no outline.
I expect that I can change outline levels of Text box using Sidebar. In https://books.libreoffice.org/en/IG72/IG7202-SlideMastersStylesTemplates.html I read: "Presentation styles cannot be created or deleted, but can be formatted, modified or updated to the presentation requirements. Also, the presentation style used for an object cannot be changed to another presentation style. For example, text with Outline 2 style cannot be changed to Outline 3 style. Note Changing outline levels is done in normal view using the Tab key or Shift+Tab key combination or the Promote and Demote tools on the Outline toolbar. See Chapter 3, Adding and Formatting Text for more information." That is not good. IMO text outline change should be possible.
I assume this isn't related to outline view, removing it from that META. I'm not sure what should happen, but bug 154492 contains some details on what presentation styles are, that could be informative.
The Presentation styles can be modified to change the look of outlines in the presentation, but they can't be _applied_ to the current selection. Which is the note you quoted in comment 2: to change the outline level, use the Lists section of the Properties sidebar deck. See also: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/images/1/1d/IG4202-SlideMastersStylesTemplates.pdf#%5B%7B%22num%22%3A87%2C%22gen%22%3A0%7D%2C%7B%22name%22%3A%22XYZ%22%7D%2C56.7%2C734.4%2C0%5D I admit I had to look it up and it feels at odds with how other styles behave (i.e. the ability to _apply_ them), but I think we should close this as "not a bug". Bug 154492 is a discussion on how we can improve the situation. Regarding your document, you'll see that if you add a new slide that follows a default layout, and write a list withing the default "Outline" frame, it will properly use the corresponding Presentation styles (and highlight them in the Sidebar). Thanks everyone!
This is literal "notabug" because it behaves as in documentation. But I quoted it to say it seems wrong, so really WHY was needed before closing, and it that case this should have been Enhancement or WontFix - I think that simple NotABug is wrong. I was aware of that other bug, but that is a discussion bug (as many with the reporter) which went too long and is not a specific task with a clear title and desired outcome, while i think this one was rather specific.
OK, so what would be the enhancement request exactly? (In reply to Timur from comment #0) > 1st issue: Click in slide outlines does not proprly reflect Outline level in > Sidebar As I understand it, this is "not a bug" because the shape is not an object from a master AutoLayout, and therefore does not use a presentation style. (Regina can correct me on the specifics.) > 2nd issue: Try to change Outline level by clicking Outline 1, 2, 3, 4 in > Sidebar - NOK. > I can only use Promote/Demote toolbar buttons. The Presentation styles can't be "applied" to an element, only modified to update the formatting of presentation objects. So is the enhancement request: "Make it possible to apply an Outline Presentation Style to any paragraph" ? In which case, I think it would break the concept of Presentation Styles and I'd vote for won't fix, and redirect you to proper paragraph and list styles support in Impress: bug 152654 and bug 152653. But other can give their opinion. Or am I missing something?
