If I select an object such as a textbox or an image, choose the Properties sidebar deck and expand the Position&Size section - I get size controls, but I don't get position controls. So I can only control the position from the dialog, which is a problem, since it often hides my object and certain hides its surroundings.

Agreed, in this case. Although the four stacked spinedits look a bit ugly in Draw/Impress and require some space.

Bug 117799 talks about images but effectively it's objects. => dup
