Description Tracey 2024-01-02 16:59:33 UTC
I have a document with 83,158 issues, 91,561 lines, 25,757 paragraphs, and 4,343,730 characters.

Request #1 Maybe make [accessibility check] a background process or warn Users that LibreOffice will NOT respond for a while when working with large documents.

Request #2 Please disable automatically turning on [Automatic Accessibility Checking] when running [Accessibility Checking].
Let the User choose to turn on [Automatic Accessibility Checking].

Step #1 I was just checking out [Accessibility Check] when I discovered that loading a large document has became an issue: surprised to be taking a long time to load.

Step #2 Unknown to me, just testing [Accessibility Check] automatically turned on [Automatic Accessibility Checking].
Please disable automatically turning on [Automatic Accessibility Checking]
Let the User choose to turn on [Automatic Accessibility Checking].

Step #3 When I discovered the issue, I had to load the large document in order to turn off [Automatic Accessibility Checking].

Thanks, Tracey
When I experienced a delay in loading a large document, I tested the following documents:
QR7X-Quick Reference Guide.odt [does NOT appear to have any noticeable delay when loading (159kb relatively small document)]
OpenDocument-v1.2-os-part1.odt [HAS a noticeable delay when loading (742kb relatively small document)]

CC'ing Samuel and Balazs, who have been working on the accessibility check.

The sidebar requires automatic a11y check to be enabled. Otherwise the Sidebar would display a static list of issues and not get updated when things change in the document.

But - the automatic check will only be enabled if the A11y Check Sidebar deck is visible. In that case we must assume that the user wants to work on a11y issues and enable automatic checking accordingly.
When switching to another deck, automatic a11y check is disabled if it was disabled before.
