Description: I'm using LO Calc (Still) and updated from 7.5.9.2 and in 7.6.4.1 all my hyperlinks in cells are underlined when opening the document. They were previously formatted as not underlined. Cells were text type until highlighting the contents with CTRL & A then using CTRL & K to insert a hyperlink. All the cells behaving this way are formatted as a column (except the column header which is a title (emboldened and underlined text format only). The column is centre-aligned. The format was successfully applied in LO versions prior and for some years (maybe as far back as from when I transitioned from OpenOffice (certainly v4.x) If I reformate them as I chose / described, upon saving and reopening the document, the formatting is not lost, just all the hyperlinks are underlined again. FORMATTING Steps to Reproduce: 1.in description 2. 3. Actual Results: Formatting is changed Expected Results: Formatting should be as when the document is closed (and saved) Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Not changed the formatting Version: 7.6.4.1 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: e19e193f88cd6c0525a17fb7a176ed8e6a3e2aa1 CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22631; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: en-GB (en_GB); UI: en-GB Calc: threaded
From the Release Notes for LO 7.6: " Automatic hyperlinks now stand out more in Calc tdf#153880 (Balázs Varga, allotropia) " I guess the "automatic" term here means "forced". IDK whether there is some possible improvement, for instance, to provide more control to users regarding this behavior, or a way to either undo or cancel the automatic formatting; that's for developers / UX Team to say. Maybe the reporter (Steven) might want to suggest a possible improvement, or comment on this behavior. <https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/7.6#Calc>
Hi, thanks for the link to the release notes / changelog. My vote is that whilst the link “enhancement” is / may be welcome to some, I think it should not be mandatory if over-ridden. The only other comment is that I also cannot change the format to my preferred by selection. I have to edit cells individually, given the column header is different (no link) I can’t select the column, just a range of cells and that is awkward. I’ll try using the format dialog instead of the standard toolbar and see if the behaviour is different and will add further comment should I find resolution. Was just a rather jarring change for me. Thank you.
Seems Stuart disagrees and resolved the ticket as NAB. At least it's worth to discuss... I struggle with the request as well. Why would you add hyperlinks when the text is not to recognize as such? If we are going to change this, I think an on/off option makes no sense. But using the cell style could work. However only for the whole cell and not in cases like A1 = "<a href=test.com>test</a> cell". This inconsistency is a bummer.
OP and summary clearly NAB, it was intentional for see also bug 153880 [1] So comments belong on the implementation in that BZ issue. And there are some to be made, e.g. the Font Effects of the Hyperlink style when modified or copied to a new style are not asserting, can't modify the underline of an inserted hyperlink to be other than a single line. =-ref-= [1] https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/149913
(In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #4) > OP and summary clearly NAB, it was intentional for see also bug 153880 [1] Yes, but this could be discussed anyway, while transforming it from bug to request for enhancement. IOW, the initial automatic formatting might be fine for some users, but if a user explicitly decides to change it later on (e.g. remove the underline), it would be reasonable (from the POV of such user) to keep such modification, by means of _some_ method. Perhaps the more effective thing to do for such user (the OP in this report, for instance) is not to use the normal "insert hyperlink" method, but also for Calc not to forcefully and automatically modify every "link-like" content(?). Is there _any_ way to leave hyperlinks (or text that looks like them) without the underline (or whichever other particular format)? I admit that at this moment I don't recall what exactly is done by AutoCorrect and what is done by other factors (e.g. insert hyperlink, or edit styles, or whatever). Whichever the case, if I assume that a user goes to ask.libreoffice.org to ask how to remove this underline, I am not sure there is some clear method to avoid it.
