I want to select multiple cells in my Impress table which are not contiguous, e.g. 2 non-adjacent rows. I should be able to do this by press Ctrl and selecting as usual, but - that doesn't work; the selection just gets replaced. Version: 24.8.1.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 87fa9aec1a63e70835390b81c40bb8993f1d4ff6 CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 6.6; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: en-IL (en_IL); UI: en-US Calc: threaded
But we can't click select any cells in sd Impress/Draw tables, only mouse drag selection. But agree, click multi-selection of Impress table cells is lacking and this seems a dupe of bug 142543 And don't believe we can currently select discontiguous cells outside of Calc (where <Ctrl> and <Shift> affect different selection range vs individual cells) and Writer cell drag selection currently will always be in contiguous range. But the "range" Multi-selection would probably be mouse click with <Shift> key not <Control>, see bug 121076 around that issue. And if sd/sw were to support discontiguous table cell selections that should probably follow calc and use <Ctrl> for the multi-selection.

(In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #1) > But we can't click select any cells in sd Impress/Draw tables, only mouse > drag selection. I'm not complaining here about the "single" range selection; I'm ignoring whether we can Click-Select or not. In Impress, using the mouse, I can click, hold, and drag - to select a range of cells. And using the keyboard, I can press Shift, hold, and move the cursor to some othert cell. That's enough selection ability to move forward and discuss adding to the selection. Thus - not a dupe 142543, which requests the ability to Click, then Shift, then Select in Impress. > And don't believe we can currently select discontiguous cells outside of > Calc (where <Ctrl> and <Shift> affect different selection range vs > individual cells) and Writer cell drag selection currently will always be in > contiguous range. Ok, well, I'm asking to be able to do that in Impress. > But the "range" Multi-selection would probably be mouse click with <Shift> > key not <Control>, see bug 121076 around that issue. I will read through bug 121076 which is related. > And if sd/sw were to > support discontiguous table cell selections that should probably follow calc > and use <Ctrl> for the multi-selection. It would follow not just calc, but all apps everywhere, including file managers and the like. Shift expands the rectangle, Ctrl adds a new rectangular range.
Using Ctrl to select multiple objects is broken in most modules of LibreOffice. It's almost a caricature that this has dragged on for so many years.
Bug 53300 might also be related (from 2012). It pertains to the Chart module. It's not possible to select non-contiguous cells when creating a chart. Another related bug is bug 121967. Can't select/pick multiple objects with CTRL key.

I don't understand your contraposition. Anyway, I can live without each and every feature known from full-fledged spreadsheet tools in Impress/Draw. But no objection, of course, if volunteers implement this multi-selection. Still a duplicate...
(In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #6) > I don't understand your contraposition. bug 142543 is about extending a contiguous selection using shift, this bug is about discontiguous ranges.
