PRINTING

I print A4 sheets of labels with an Oki B431, usually without problems. I don't print frequently, so cannot be sure when the bug arose, but I upgraded Linux Mint recently, from 21.x to 22.x, and initially thought it was an issue with CUPS.

I have to print in portrait orientation from the multi-purpose (manual feed) tray, due to the label sheets' size and thickness. No matter what settings I have specified, the print job is in landscape orientation. The troubleshooter in in Linux Mint's Printers dialog suggests an envelope setting is being used.

The issue affects Writer and not Calc or Xed (text editor) or the print dialog from the Opera web browser (which I will use, with Writer documents exported as PDF).

Thanks in advance for your consideration and swift resolution of this problem.

Looking at similar issues, I found bug 163098, which is also said to be a regression in an Ubuntu-base system.

I'm not sure, if this would be related, but there is a somewhat recent fix for bug 161152. The fix is not yet in a released version. When 24.8.4 is released, you could download it as an appimage and test: https://www.libreoffice.org/download/appimage/
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan/24.8#24.8.4_release

Otherwise you could download Linux-rpm_deb-x86_64@tb99-TDF-dbg from
https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/current.html

and it should be fairly easy to extract and run.

Thanks, the orientation is now correct, but for A4 the printed content is now displaced approximately 80 mm down and 45 mm to the right.

I should add that there hasn't been an issue with the other paper size I use, which is A6.

That is, with Version: 25.8.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: a1b8b44bf99b331f6cd4b4583d08b6a01d5c4f03

Is this only seen with physical printing or also with PDF export or printing to PDF? If seen with PDF, could you attach an example file?

It affects physical printing only, and, I assume, A4 only. My workaround is to export to PDF and print from the Opera webbrowser.
