Description Eyal Rozenberg 2024-11-23 18:26:58 UTC
When I choose a color - for text, area, path etc. - I want to be offered colors which are in wide use in my document: Colors in background images (e.g. in a master slide or page style), colors of area in popups I've used a lot, etc.

Notes:

* These are _not_ the same as recently-used colors: I may be playing with the colors of one page or slide, which has some colorful graphic; but my effective document color-scheme, or color-palette has not changed.

* These are _not_ custom "document colors" that someone has explicitly marked as such; although one could consider these akin to document explicitly-specified document colors, piggybacking off of the facilities intended for them.

-1 to these AI ideas like picking a color from background image. Besides we have a document color palette which is supposed to offer previously chosen colors. The META ticket is bug 107380, pick one as a duplicate, eg. bug 116782.

-1

Using colors sampled from the content of images and graphics present in current document seems too unstructured--how large would such listing need to be to be functional. How would it be recorded?, per document, to master/template, or to user profile? And then for OOXML interoperability how would export/import filters handle it.

Otherwise the OOXML document color theme framework--MS Office "schemeClr" elements--naming 12 fixed colors: DK1, LT1, DK2, LT2, ACCENT1, ACCENT2, ACCENT3, ACCENT4, ACCENT5, ACCENT6, HLINK, FOLHLINK already implemented in LibreOffice offers much more structure, and is more suited to task of styling document content.

While I am asking for more than that, let's get Document colors actually populated with anything and then maybe I'll open a separate bug about colors from background images.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 116782 ***

We discussed the topic in the design meeting and recommend to resolve WF (or DUP as done meanwhile).
