Description icp 2024-12-01 21:09:00 UTC
Description:
In Libreoffice writer it would be useful to use not just the mouse but also the current shortcut keys (SHIFT+ALT+ARROW UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT) to move text. It is much quicker. In word, when using the scheme view, it is easy to move text when moving titles and you do it just with the same shortcut keys. I find it useful and would like to use it in libreoffice.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. F5 (i.e. open Navigator)
2. Move titles AND TEXT with SHIFT + ALT + UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT KEY
3. Exit Navigator.

Actual Results:
You can move text and titles with the mouse but not with keyboard shortcuts.

Expected Results:
Ease moving around text just moving titles (up and down) and easing ranks in titles (left and right)-

Reproducible: Always

It is just a suggestion. Thank you.

You already *can* move sd Textbox in Writer (or Draw or Impress) with keyboard cursor keys. Likewise a Frame objects holding text can already be moved by cursor or mouse drag.

But paragraph objects positioned within page (or frame) margins can not be directly repositioned--just off-sets from margins and other objects can be adjusted.

Paragraphs can be placed into Frames if that is a layout requirement.

IMHO not feasible in ODF and => WF

Shift-combinations are typically associated with selection. The commands .uno:MoveUp/.uno:MoveDown are assigned to ctrl+alt+up/down but you can change this easily via tools > customization. What else is needed?

Referring to "text" is misleading.

Yes EITHER the <Alt>+<Shift> <Up/Down> OR the <Ctrl>+<Alt> <Up/Down> shortcut pairs are mapped to the .uno:MoveItemUp or .uno:MoveItemDown and will apply against a *selection* made of paragraph object(s).

That will move a paragraph object(s) within its page or frame.
