See attached demonstration video.

1. In "Tabbed" notebookbar UI mode, switch to a specific tab that you want to simplify (ex: the "Data" toolbar tab in Calc)

2. Menubutton > Customize...

3. Disable a button from that Data toolbar target

Result: in the background, the notebookbar switches back to the Home tab, so it is very difficult to see the effect of what you are doing in realtime.

Already in 7.0, when the feature was implemented: bug 101513

The behaviour is more erratic with gen and I have to say the display of Tabbed with gen feels and looks very broken at the moment.
