Translating this report into English for the benefit of QA in general.

@jean-marc: the LibreOffice bugzilla is an English language instance first and foremost. You should really post your reports in English if you want to hope that someone will look at them.

Libreoffice 25.2.0
When initiating a document scan from the Insert > Media menu, the application freezes and requires a forced kill.

This happens with Writer, Draw, and Calc.

For my part, testing on macOS:

Version: 24.8.3.2 (AARCH64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 48a6bac9e7e268aeb4c3483fcf825c94556d9f92
CPU threads: 8; OS: macOS 15.3.1; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: osx
Locale: fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8); UI: fr-FR
Calc: threaded

The menu "Select source" does nothing at all, but at least it doesn't cause the app to freeze. I seem to recall that this should allow a user to choose the scanner registered with the OS. Might have to open a separate report for that.

The menu Acquire displays a message saying "Source not defined" (ROFL).

Guess this doesn't work at all on macOS.

On Windows, that menu command launches a new process named twain32shim; and the mail soffice process waits for that new process to finish.

I have no idea what could change with the update (we didn't change the related code, AFAIK). But it would be interesting to learn if terminating that twain32shim instead would unfreeze LibreOffice.

Can not confirm.

Win64 with scanner support via VueScan

1. New document
2. Insert media -> Scan -> Select Source... dialog
3. Select the scan program (VueScan TWAIN (32-32)) and select scanner there (Canon Lide210)
4. preview scan under control of external prog
5. complete scan and it is rendered to document canvas.

Maybe some WIA vs TWAIN preference issue? For Alex, what does macOS do for TWAIN scanner support? Vendor driver per model isn't it.

Guess it could depend on what OP has in place for driving their MFCJ852DW scanner.

So apparently the issue of missing VCRuntime at 25.2.0.3 build as for bug 165149, fixed for the 25.2.1.2 release build.
