Description: Since 23/02/2025 at 18:55, LibreOffice has crashed on startup every time. I had upgraded to 25.02.0.3 on 06 February 2025, 19:15:43, and I am fairly sure it worked after that. Windows 10 successfully installed "February 11, 2025—KB5051974 (OS Builds 19044.5487 and 19045.5487)" on 15/02/2025, and I can't recall whether I had tried to use LibreOffice between then and the first crash report to Microsoft on 23/02/2025 at 18:55. Hence, I can not say for certain whether the problem may have been caused by this Windows update. I have included below the content of the most recent crash report. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Either, double-click on a .odt file, 2. Or, double click on the desk-top short cut 3. Or, right-click on the desk-top short cut and select Open Actual Results: Apparently, nothing happens. As indicated above, actually Windows sends an error report. Expected Results: Office should at least display a splash screen, and then start up. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: It did not even get as far as displaying a splash screen. Here's the content of the most recent crash report to Microsoft. Thanks for reporting this issue. it looks like a duplicate of bug 165149. The issue will be fixed in LibreOffice 25.2.1 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 165149 ***
(In reply to Xisco Faulí from comment #1) > it looks like a duplicate of bug 165149. Very unlikely. Absent libraries don't result in a silent crash; they show "missing DLL" dialog box. Also, this report seems to be about an *update* of pre-installed LibreOffice - which means, that the libraries would be pre-installed (bug 165149 is only about clean install on a system with no pre-installed libraries). I would suspect some Skia/Vulkan issue.
Tony: there should be a Start Menu entry for launching LibreOffice in Safe Mode. Does it work (click "Continue in safe mode" in the dialog)?
In a word - no! I went to Start -> LibreOffice -> LibreOffice (Safe Mode) and selected that. It attempted to do something, but didn't get as far as displaying the splash screen. In case it's of any help, here's the error report that was sent to Microsoft - although it looks to be the same as the earlier one. > Source > LibreOffice > > Summary > Stopped working > > Date > 24/02/2025 16:19 > > Status > Report sent > > Description > Faulting Application Path: C:\Program Files\LibreOffice\program\soffice.bin > > Problem signature > Problem Event Name: APPCRASH > Application Name: soffice.bin > Application Version: 25.2.0.3 > Application Timestamp: 6793e57b > Fault Module Name: cppu3.dll > Fault Module Version: 25.2.0.3 > Fault Module Timestamp: 6793c3de > Exception Code: c0000005 > Exception Offset: 00000000000214ae > OS Version: 10.0.19045.2.0.0.768.101 > Locale ID: 1033 > Additional Information 1: 0e21 > Additional Information 2: 0e216870c33ff8fb142ab40b2661e294 > Additional Information 3: 7bb1 > Additional Information 4: 7bb148190ae901a0c437a8d5ee0c22d0 > > Extra information about the problem > Bucket ID: abf56688b8140c1bb9fff66dcd1efbe2 (1873486921462643682)
You could also try an unreleased build, Win-x86_64@tb77-TDF from https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/current.html It installs separately.
OK, I've installed that, and it works. Yipee! Does this mean that this issue will be fixed in LibreOffice 25.2.1?
