What you are seeing:

Video clip shows LO being opened and it assuming the system appearance (dark mode). All good at this point.

NOTE. I have tried two installs, one a clean install of LO on a test system that has never had LO installed before and the other installed over the top of version 24 as an update. Also tried uninstalling LO on this setup and reinstalling.

Both systems behave identically. Both running W11, the one in the video is running the public release and the other Windows Dev latest build.

Video clip shows LO being opened and it assuming the system appearance (dark mode). All good at this point.

We then go to 'Appearance' and select 'Light' (30 seconds in). Notice when 'Apply' is clicked the other options 'white out' and become non visible.

At 40 seconds in the cursor is just hovered over the toolbars at the top and any option the cursor passes over 'whites out'

At 53 seconds the workspace is closed.

At 1'08" we have a weird looking screen after us earlier going to 'Light' mode.

LO is closed and reopened (at 1'10") followed by going to options and 'Appearance'. The setting is changed from 'Light' to 'System' followed by 'Apply' and 'OK'. LO is now closed again.

LO reopened and is now in the system setting of 'Dark Mode'. (1'32")

Calc Spreadsheet is opened and the grid squares are missing now.

I type into the first cell the words 'where is the grid' The words are not visible in the workspace.

If I hover over the first cell the words appear in the entry box above the workspace and so the text has been accepted, its just not visible. Camera zooms in to show this (1'48")

At 2'15" we go back to 'Options' and 'Appearance' and select 'Light' followed by apply. Note that the options 'white out' again' and note the look of what happens.

The missing text is now visible.

Notice how the toolbar at the very top has now disappeared into a white rectangle as soon as the cursor touched it. Also the 'white out' of anything else the cursor passes over. (2'45")

At 2'51" I go to close LO. Notice the options to save the file are again a 'white out'

LO is closed and reopened to see how it looks and then closed again.

I go to App Data and Roaming and delete the '4' folder.

LO now behaves as from the start, opening OK in 'System' mode (dark mode) and then breaking again as above.

I also have spreadsheets (from earlier version) that open with nothing visible apart from one single vertical column of figures in for example column G with text either side not visible. Curiously words and figures in red do show.

At 25.2 you are expected to install one of the new Appearance framework themes rather than using the default 'Automatic' theme.

We know the toggle for the default 'Automatic' between System | Light | Dark corrupts the color scheme when you select Light, while os/DE is in a Dark color sense. That's been corrected for 25.8 but for now, please use the 'Add more themes' puzzle piece icon and install the 'Light Application Color' extension--designed to render UI as builds prior to 25.2 release.

Or, try one of the other Appearance themes.

With an Appearance theme installed, the Light and Dark radio buttons on the Tools -> Options -> Appearance panel will behave to toggle the UI between Light or Dark color scheme as defined within the theme extension--the new themes define both.

Unfortunately, and fixed for 25.8, once you move UI off of the System RB it is irrevocably corrupted and can only be restored by profile deletion.

Some patching is being done for 25.2 incrementals, but the new Framework will not be stable before 25.8 release.

this issue was solved recently, fix would be released in the next release of 25.2, sorry for the inconvenience.
