Demonstration video

Sometimes (most of the time), when you try clicking notebookbar buttons that were stuffed into an expander (ยป) overflow widget, on Fedora 42's Wayland GNOME session, you will get:

* Dialog windows that completely refuse to show up, sometimes (such as the "Search and replace" dialog)

* Dialog windows that will show up, but the focus remains grabbed by the popup expander toolbar widget so it is impossible to interact with the widgets within the dialog window, such as comboboxes or other clickable elements other than notebook tabs or the titlebar.

Please see the attached demonstration video that makes the problem much clearer than a written description ever could. When you see those dropdown lists / combobox widgets becoming dark-gray in the video, that's because I am clicking on them, and their contents don't pop up.

Tested on:

Note that while I had gnome-tweaks' "Attach Modal Dialogs" setting turned off during the recording of the video, the same behavior happens even if it is turned on (default setting).

Yup, I can still reproduce this easily with:

Are you folks also running Wayland (in my case, GNOME 48.7's Wayland session)?
It happens to me on all computers, even with a single screen (laptop monitor),
so it's not something related to multi-monitors.

Sure, but with KDE.
