Description Liz Lee 2025-07-27 09:19:00 UTC
can we have libreoffice please check for all the fonts that are used in the current document and list them at the top of the font selector drop down menu?

i have no idea what this font list currently contains. some months ago, i used century gothic, now it seems to be stuck forever in this list. on the other hand i almost daily use segoe ui semibold and everytime i open a document (that already contains strings with this font) i still have to scroll down to find segoe ui semibold, as for some reason it never will be placed on top.

"The last five font names that have been selected are shown in the top part of the combo box." https://help.libreoffice.org/25.2/en-US/text/shared/02/02020000.html

I'm against changing this behavior toward something like using the fonts in the current document. You should rather consider using styles.

And it's easy to pick another font by typing the first letters of the name, no need to scroll down.

Resolving this enhancement request as wontfix, feel free to reopen if you disagree. If there is an issue on Windows with the following steps I tested on Linux, please reopen as well. STR: Pick some rare font like Source Code Pro, restart with a new document, pick some other fonts and verify the not used being moved down in the recent font list, and eventually dropped out.

Related discussions, maybe I misunderstood the request:

Bug 127123 - Recently Used Fonts are not stored across sessions when sidebar is used
Bug 94909 - Font name won't be selected when font list has recently used font section

Bug 169391 is my report, and it mirrors this one

Just so you know that Liz Lee is not the only person who wanted this, I too wanted it

Maybe it could be optional in the settings and not imposed on everyone. If there is a thing that is easy to make and will benefit many people, then why not?
