Description danielanywhere 2025-08-05 13:52:34 UTC
Description:
I currently have LibreOffice Calc configured with 10pt Verdana font and 2pt cell buffers. Other than that, all settings are standard. However, this issue happens in any font. In Liberation Sans, there is just a 'prettier, uniform block'.

When I type into a cell and the look-ahead text is presented, the entire look-ahead portion of the text is composed of black blocks, instead of the text that you would expect to be shown there.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Type a value into a cell.
2.Move your cursor to the cell directly beneath it.
3.Start typing the same value. Blackness will appear to the right of the cursor as you type, instead of the suggested text.

Actual Results:
Unreadable content in look-ahead text.

Expected Results:
Actual suggested text to be selected if the user presses [Tab].

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Yes the problem still persists when Light or Dark theme is selected and Calc is restarted.

That was it. I navigated to Tools / Options / LibreOffice / View and unchecked Use Slia for all rendering. After restarting Calc, the type-ahead text was reverse-selected, clear, and visible.

Correction: Unchecked 'Use Skia for all rendering'
