Description Gerald Bode 2025-09-18 20:31:25 UTC
Description:
Bug 1: Non-functional "Insert Glue Point" button after enabling via View → Toolbars → Glue Points

Steps to reproduce
1. Open Impress.
2. Enable toolbar via View → Toolbars → Glue Points.
3. Try to press the "Insert Glue Point" button.

Observed behavior
- The button is displayed, but pressing it has no effect:
It does not visually stay pressed (no “locked” state).
The Glue Point Edit Mode is not entered.
- The button is effectively non-functional (defect / “does not lock in place”).

Expected behavior
- The button should work identically regardless of how the toolbar was made visible.
- Clicking should toggle the Glue Point Edit Mode (pressed = active, released = inactive).

Bug 2: Inconsistent state when enabling via Edit → Glue Points

Steps to reproduce
1. Open Impress.
2. Activate Glue Point Edit Mode via Edit → Glue Points.

Observed behavior
- The Glue Points toolbar appears.
- The "Insert Glue Point" button is in a functional state (can be clicked),
but it is not already pressed.
- User must press it again manually to enter the mode.

Expected behavior
- As soon as Edit → Glue Points is selected, the Glue Points toolbar should appear with the "Insert Glue Point" button already pressed, clearly indicating the mode is active.

Additional notes
- The "Insert Glue Point" button behaves like a binary toggle but currently has three states in practice:
On (pressed, mode active).
Off (released, mode inactive).
Defect / non-functional (visible, but cannot be toggled).

This inconsistent behavior causes confusion, especially because the same toolbar/button can be functional or defective depending on how it was opened.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open Impress.
2.Enable toolbar via View → Toolbars → Glue Points.
3.Try to press the "Insert Glue Point" button.

Actual Results:
The button is displayed, but pressing it has no effect:

It does not visually stay pressed (no “locked” state).

The Glue Point Edit Mode is not entered.

The button is effectively non-functional (defect / “does not lock in place”).

Expected Results:
The button should work identically regardless of how the toolbar was made visible.

Clicking should toggle the Glue Point Edit Mode (pressed = active, released = inactive).

Reproducible: Always

Additional Info:
We see two bugs that are related and have therefore been sensed in one bug report.

I did not try to rest my profile, because I'm facing with this issue in multiple machines with multiple users, scattered a couple of years.
