Ref: bug161948, bug#168687. After a second read with a translator hat and seeking to catch the topic I suggest 1) "Use decimal number as a whole" Should perhaps be "Recognize decimal numbers" and the tooltip "Decimal numbers are recognized. Example:..." 2) "Split in integer and fractions" should perhaps be "ignore decimal separator in numbers" Note: long tooltips should go to extended tips. Note2: Help page to update, once finalized.
Abstaining from the discussion about the labels. But: Users who have been used "Natural Sort" might be annoyed by the renaming. Would be nice to give a clue in the tooltip like "... (was: 'Natural Sort')" (and maybe drop this amendment in the major release after the next).
> "Split in integer and fractions" This is grammatically invalid. Generally, 'split' takes either a direct object, or an indirect object via 'into'. The only (?) exception is the idiom "split [something] in half". > "Recognize decimal numbers" The term 'decimal' also denotes a number in base-10 rather than base-16 (hexadecimal) or base-8 (octal). So "Recognize decimal fractions" or "Recognize fractional decimal numbers" We could also think of bringing the two options closer together in phrasing to emphasize the difference: * " 12.34 is a fraction" * " 12.34 are two numbers" and relegate the the phrase "base-10 fractional numbers" to the tooltips.

As the current implementation has the same check box as previous, I suggest we stay with the old label "Enable natural sort". So only new is, that the user now can choose between two kinds of "natural sort", whereas previously it was automatically that one, that is named "double" in file markup. Example:..." The tooltip start "Decimal numbers are recognized" is the same content as the label "Recognize decimal numbers", so superfluous. Have only "Example: A.14, A1.2, A1.2, A10 (with dot as separator)" in the tooltip? > > 2) > "Split in integer and fractions" > should perhaps be > "ignore decimal separator in numbers" Start with uppercase "Ignore". Besides that, it is OK for me. Perhaps here too only the example in the tooltip? > > Note: long tooltips should go to extended tips. Which texts do you suggest for the two extended tips?
