Description: While using libreoffice writer with dark mode all the table boundaries and footnote delimeters are black making them invisible. Changing the colour in "appearance" ( or set it to automatic) to white doesn't really change the colour keeping them black and invisible Steps to Reproduce: 1.Use Dark mode and Writer 2. Insert a table or footnote 3. Change the colour to white in "appearance" for table boundaries Actual Results: The table boundaries are still black, consequently the table is still invisible Expected Results: The table boundaries should change to white, making them visible Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: Version: 25.8.3.1 (X86_64) Build ID: 52ad9dd1c984050a9fb6932dbfb16e86a49e9758 CPU threads: 16; OS: Windows 11 X86_64 (build 26200); UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win Locale: it-IT (it_IT); UI: it-IT Calc: CL threaded
Created attachment 203750 [details] Several tables on non-white document canvas, Table grid vs. Table Content PS By dark, you mean you've unchecked the Tools -> Options -> Appearance 'Use white document background'? Maybe try one of the >= 25.8 Appearance themes? Otherwise 'Tables' don't really have styles, just attributes. And working with a dark document canvas you currently need to modify the 'Table Properties...' to change the table grid color from default Black to some color. Color is on the dialog 'Borders' tab in the Line stanzas. So, currently table grid of each distinct table needs to be modified. Note: that a changed table grid color will then be written into the document on save or when printing or exporting the table, where otherwise the default 'Black' table grid is saved, printed/exported. And if manually set to 'White' the table grid will not be visible on the print/export. This is distinct from the "styled" 'Table Content' paragraph style where the 'Borders' surround the actual table cell content. And as a style can be modified across the entire document in all tables. Or can be directly formatted via the Paragraph dialog. Note: here also, the directly formatted or styled borders of table content will print/export. Attaching a clip showing diff between "border" color of table grid and table cell paragraph content on a dark document canvas.
@Heiko, Sahil, * While we've made the document canvas white by default with the 'Use white document background' checkbox, it seems the Appearance themes are not reaching the default Table grids. Also that the Automatic color for table grids are not yet responding to an Automatic Light/Dark os theme sense. Users can set a grid color per table, but that color is then taken into the print/export. Seems like the Table grid "border" UI element should respond to a Light/Dark os/DE color scheme. And when we've a dark document canvas we should get a light table grid.

Exactly, I use the dark document theme and the table are like the first one in the attachment
We lack an Automatic color for table borders. It has been reported in bug 148675. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 148675 ***
