I use LibreOffice Base as a front-end of a MySQL database but it looks true for any LO Base file. When you use a form, searching in this form is not available : * either by Ctrl+f * or Edit menu and searching… (I'm french, so I am not sure about the word used in english) Nothing is displayed. BUT, if you use the menu Edit -> Searching and Replace (same limit), it works ! The usual dialog box appears and you can look for a string ! So the function, the underground mechanism, exists but looks unavailable. Maybe not so difficult to fix All that with Ubuntu 25.10 (it was the same with the previous versions). Thanks.
You couldn't search in a form by the default searching engines of Writer. Edit → Searching and Replace will only pop up, but could only find content, which is written like text content in Writer. It wouldn't find anything which is presented in a control, also in a label control. For searching: Mark a control. Have a look at the bottom of the form. A navigation bar appears. At the left you could see a magnifier. This is for searching through the form.
Thanks for this answer and I had not really seen the magnifier at the bottom left to search among the controls… But, I have a form that I use like a Writer document : I wrote a quite long text to record my development steps. And you could imagine a form with some information for the users with the same kind of text. And something stays not consistent for me : - either searching has not to be active on that way in a form : the edit menu / Searching should not be enabled and Edit menu / Searching and Replace should not be active and work… But it works ! - or it has to be enabled and work despite it will search only outside the controls. It is only my opinion… Best regards.
