Description Danat 2025-12-07 22:27:29 UTC
Description:
An idea entered my mind of bookmarks that disappear after a certain amount of time

There can be many use cases depending on what people are doing. Here is mine: I have lists of emails and I need to complete some tasks with them. I want to mark them, but I don't want to unmark them, because it's hard, but the biggest reason is that I don't want to accidentally damage the document

The use case sounds strange

I neither understand the use case.

But perhaps the reporter is looking for a "reminder". That is a feature of the Navigator. You can set a reminder and later traverse these reminders for and back. See section Reminders in Navigation help page [https://help.libreoffice.org/26.8/en-US/text/swriter/01/02110100.html]

I imagine that I right click on a shape or a bookmark like a tick, then I can choose after how much time it disappears. And I can copy and paste it, and it retains the same timer

Though, to be honest, the app has so many critical bugs, some of them are taking decades to fix. Maybe it's wise to focus on fixing those bugs before adding such gimmicks

I don't accept the word strange. There are good and bad ideas, let's call it what it is. My ideas can be bad, that's okay

The described use case is already provided for with the Sidebar Navigator deck placed into 'Reminder' mode.

Reminders are a transient stack of 5 locations (edit cursor view ports) within an open document that unlike a formal 'Bookmark' object are not written into the document. They go away when the document is closed.

You can navigate between them exclusively when in SB 'Reminder' mode. Or, they are recorded into the SB 'Recency' mode and its Navigation toolbar.
