Description Takenori Yasuda 2026-01-31 15:51:27 UTC
Description:
When both underlining and the hyphenation exclusion option are applied from the Character Style editing dialog, the underline is not displayed as configured. Instead, a grey dotted line is shown.

This issue occurs only when formatting marks are enabled. If formatting marks are disabled, the configured underline is displayed correctly.

The issue occurs in the editing view and Print Preview only. The PDF output is generated correctly.

The "Exclude from hyphenation" option was introduced in LibreOffice 24.8.0 by Bug 106733. It is possible that this issue already existed at the time this feature was added.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Writer.
2. Enable Menu > View > Formatting Marks.
3. Enter some text and select it.
4. Open Menu > Format > Character.
5. In Font Effects > Underlining, set any underline style (and underline colour).
6. In Position > Hyphenation, enable "Exclude from hyphenation".
(Steps 5 and 6 can be done in any order. Alternatively, step 2 can be performed last.)

Actual Results:
Instead of the underline configured in step 5, a grey dotted line is displayed.

Expected Results:
The underline configured in step 5 is displayed in the specified colour.

The dotted line for "Exclude from hyphenation" is gray and transparent.

For comparison: When a field is inserted, "Field Shadings" will highlight fields in gray; but if the field got a "Character Highlighting Color", the gray of field is ignored to show the character highlighting color.
