Description Tom Sneddon 2011-02-14 12:20:20 UTC
Hatching area fill pattern does not export to pdf.

To invoke bug:
1) Create a new text document.
2) Draw a rectangle or other shape using drawing toolbar.
3) Right-click on shape and choose "Area...".
4) Select "Area" tab.
5) Set fill to "Hatching"
6) Select a hatching pattern. (Doesn't matter which one.)
7) Save document.
8) Export to PDF.
9) Fill pattern does not show up in pdf.

This behavior is different than OpenOffice 3.2.
Hatching fill pattern used to show up in pdf export.

Partial workaround:
1) Complete sequence of events above.
2) Right-click shape and choose "Area...".
3) Select "Transparency" tab.
4) Click "Transparency" radio button. (Default is 50%)
5) Save document.
6) Export document to pdf.
7) Hatch fill patter will show up, although with transparency.

In the original workaround I forgot to mention that you must have a background color assigned to the shape as well as a hatching pattern and transparency.

Updated partial workaround:
1) Complete sequence of events above.
2) Right-click shape and choose "Area...".
3) Select the "Area" tab.
4) In addition to the hatching fill, make sure that you have a background color selected (I usually choose white).
5) Select "Transparency" tab.
6) Click "Transparency" radio button. (Default of 50% will do fine.)
7) Save document.
8) Export document to pdf.
9) Hatch fill pattern will show up, although with transparency.

Same thing here under Ubuntu Linux:
LibreOffice 3.3.3
OOO330m19 (Build:301)
tag libreoffice-3.3.3.1, Ubuntu package 1:3.3.3-1ubuntu2

I had rotated a hatched rectangle and exported to pdf.
Also in the evince 2.32.0 viewer the hatching is gone.

[This is an automated message.]
This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it
started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is
changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back
to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases.
Details on how to test the 3.5.0 beta1 can be found at:

Seems to be the same as "Bug 37247 - PDF Export in WRITER/Hatch not exported in some cases", what is fixed for 3.5.0

@reporter:
Please feel free to reopen this Bug if you find evidence that we have an independent issue here appearing in 3.5.0 Beta1 or later
