Created attachment 47702 [details] Example Word document with multiline vertical text Following document imported from Word to Writer displayed significantly differently in comparison with Word: 1. Create new document in Word (I used 2007 Word). 2. Insert new table. 3. Add multiline text to cell breaking lines by pressing Enter: first line<ENTER> second line<ENTER> 4. Right click with mouse on table cell -> Text Direction -> select vertical text direction. 5. Save document and open it in Writer. Observer behavior: Writer shows text in table cell in single line. Expected behavior: Writer shows multiline text in table cell in multiple lines. When I break lines in Word with <Shift-Enter> it correctly displayed as multiline in Writer. Attaching: 1) Word document with examples of multiline texts separated with <Enter> and <Shift-Enter>, 2) same document exported to PDF in Word.

RC2 is bit by bit identical with release version, so separate items in the version picker are useless. Changes have been discussed with Michael Meeks.
Bug 34436 - TABLES text in cells behaves wrong when rotated describes the same problem
(In reply to comment #3) > Bug 34436 - TABLES text in cells behaves wrong when rotated > describes the same problem This bug report describes problem with incorrect importing of Word document into LibreOffice. Previously I reported issue similar to your bug report (see https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38064) and received explanation from user vitriol that you should use <Shift+Enter> to separate lines in vertically aligned paragraph (https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38064#c1).
With Shift-Enter it works. Thanks for explanation. I will use it. But from user point of view it looks strange that Enter not works.
Even if it is described in a different way, I assume this is a duplicate of https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34436 (as mentioned above)
[This is an automated message.] This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. Created attachment 86843 [details] Vertical text comparison on Word 2010 and LibreOffice 4.1.1.2 in doc and docx formats Problem persists with 4.1.1.2
In LO 3.3.0 the text was displayed as multiple lines - but also not rotated. By LO 3.4.0 it looks much the same as at present (5.0 master - same as in the attached image). The result wasn't really right before or after, but on balance let's call the lost line breaks a regression. -> Keywords: regression -> Whiteboard: preBibisect
Migrating Whiteboard tags to Keywords: (preBibisect) [NinjaEdit]
Still reproducible in Version: 6.0.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: 34e8fd7e99489e9f50a512b07c6f3923b358b4d3 CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.10; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; Locale: ca-ES (ca_ES.UTF-8); Calc: group
