Tor, could you please look at this one? I guess it might be problem in component located in avmedia/source/win

Hmm, I don't have any such "\Users\Public\Recorded TV" folder on my Windows Server 2008 R2...

In fact I could not quickly looking (in the places where I typically download stuff, and in my temp directory) find a single video file that would match LibreOffice's "All movie and sound files" filter... I guess I must be an untypical computer user;) Rainer, could you please attach that sample video file here? Or point to some suitable file on the internet with which the bug can be reproduced. Then I will debug and fix the crash if I can.
Comment 3 Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2011-06-16 22:26:42 UTC
It seems that the problem only appears with .wtv movies. They will not be listed as media file in the file open dialog, but you can insert it without problems and movie can be played in presentation without problems.

You can find a test kit on the Experimental "Attachment upload page" <http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Bugzilla-Attachments#Bug_38273_-_EDITING:_Crash_when_resize_movie_object>.

Also WRITER and DRAW crash when I insert movie from testkit and try to resize.

If I try to insert the .wtv file from the Testkit.zip, I get the error dialog "The format of the selected file is not supported."
Comment 5 tester8 2011-06-17 02:56:31 UTC
Ubuntu 10.04.2 x86
LO 3.4

There is no problem with resize, but I think it is because movie don't want to play at all. As I googled out there is no way to play .wtv on Linux, only after converting.

I sent the presentation with inserted movie - not visible on your PC 7 LibO?

tester8: Why did you change the Platform to x86-64? The LibreOffice for Windows is 32-bit code. OK, so we cheerfully tend to ignore that field anyway, but I don't see the point in intentionally changing it to a misleading value. And if you are on Linux, why bother with this Windows-specific bug anyway?

Rainer: indeed not, I can't insert a .wtv file in LO 3.4.0 on Windows 7 (well, actually WS2008R2, but it shouldn't matter).

> Rainer: indeed not, I can't insert a .wtv file

That's strange. I get the "not supported" message trying to insert a .flv, and also for some other movie formats I tried. May be we have to check reliability of the format support checker as an other issue.
Comment 10 Steven Baur 2011-06-18 08:42:20 UTC
LibreOffice 3.4.1 OOO340m1 (Build:101), natty nightly
It's the same problem here (with *.mp4 files), they get recognized as media-files, you can insert them normaly and they also play in the presentation. But if you try to resize the media files in any way, LibO crashes.

To ensure that is Windows-specific, in case I reproduced it on Linux I would change platform to "all".
Ok, no one more word from me in this bug )
Comment 12 Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2011-06-20 10:03:48 UTC
Due To Comment 10, Comment 11 > OS = ALL

Assigning back to list as I have not been able to reproduce it.

Can't reproduce the crash on my latest build from master on Linux 32bit.

I can insert an MP4, resize it to my heart's content, no crash.

I am having similar problems. Ubuntu 10.10 amd64, LibreOffice 3.4.5
OOO340m1 (Build:502).

I'm mostly using webm format videos. I can insert them, and they play in the presentation. I can resize them one time without problems. But usually if I try to resize a second time, then LibreOffice freezes. Not only that but my entire X windows session freezes. I have to resort to switching to VT1 and doing killall soffice.bin.

Possibly relevant: dual monitor setup, nvidia driver 260.19.06, Lenovo ThinkPad T410
Comment 16 bouffard 2012-02-13 12:00:30 UTC
Update: I tried downgrading to 3.3.4 and found that webm wasn't supported in that version. So I transcoded to Ogg Theora and found that I couldn't reproduce the problem. So perhaps it is codec-specific. Then I upgraded to 3.5 RC3 and found the problem still there with webm videos and still no problem with Ogg. Guess I'll just transcode everything to Ogg.
Comment 17 Julien Nabet 2012-05-16 14:58:28 UTC
On pc Debian x86-64, with branch 3.5 updated yesterday (and a new LO profile), I can't reproduce this bug.
I tried the test kit, resized the object, deleted it and inserted again (wtv wasn't known so I had to select "all files").
Perhaps I missed something.

Rainer: just for the update, do you still reproduce this on 3.5.3 ?
Comment 18 retired 2013-02-26 01:25:43 UTC
Rainer and all, is this still reproducible on LO 4.0?
Comment 19 Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2013-03-25 08:47:08 UTC
Still more or less [Reproducible] with Server Installation of "LibO 4.0.2.0+ - English UI / German Locale [Build ID: c56ae179f83034df407cd609a69c140d24d3ec6)]" {tinderbox: @6, pull time 2013-03-04 10:28:06} on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) with newly created user profile ….\LODev\4\

Now I get a CRASH with Error Message "Runtime Error! Program: ...\soffice.bin
R6025 - pure virtual function call.
Comment 20 Julien Nabet 2013-04-15 20:43:47 UTC
On pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated today I don't reproduce this.

However, on Win7 x64 with 4.0.2, I reproduced the crash.
Windows only bug?

bfoman: would you have some time to reproduce this and retrieve a backtrace of this one with the help of the testkit of Rainer's comment 3?

Checked with:
LO 4.0.2.2
Build ID: own W7 debug build
Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit

Could not reproduce the crash.
Comment 22 Julien Nabet 2013-05-04 17:00:50 UTC
bfoman: following your last comment I put it as WFM.
If someone reproduces it, don't hesitate to reopen this.

Reproduced with 4.1.1.2 on Ubuntu 13.04 with PPA (https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice/+archive/libreoffice-4-1).

I opened a new presentation, embedded a MP4 movie, resized and crashed.
Comment 25 Julien Nabet 2013-09-02 17:53:10 UTC
Kentaro: could you rename your LO directory profile and give it a new try? (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#GNU.2FLinux)

Happened a lot to me on several computers with LO 4.0.2.2 and 4.1.something on Ubuntu 13.04/13.10.
Seems to be fixed with LO 4.2beta2.
Comment 27 retired 2013-12-16 10:43:53 UTC
Cannot reproduce in 4.2b2 or 4.3a0+ on os x 10.9.

If this persists for you with LO 4.2b2 or newer please reopen.

Setting to WORKSFORME as of my experience and comment 26 and 21.
