There should be a way to see what the settings are for the table lines. Right now, when you click on the picture of the lines for the top/right/bottom/left/inside lines, they get set to whatever the pull-down menu is set to. I'd like to find out what the current settings are! Maybe we could right-click on the picture or control-click or shift-click. Clicking in such a manner should set the pull-down menus to the settings for what was just selected. Then, we could see the settings and then click on another part of the diagram to pass those settings on to another part of the table.
[This is an automated message.] This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases. Details on how to test the 3.5.0 beta1 can be found at: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugHunting_Session_3.5.0.-1 more detail on this bulk operation: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/RFC-Operation-Spamzilla-tp3607474p3607474.html
Setting back to new. This would be a great enhancement. How to make this work is up to further discussion, but I guess a tooltip that would show when hovering over the border line would be the simplest solution.
This observation is still valid in LO 4.2.4 In my opinion, this is not a enhancement but a bug. The reason is that it is not possible to visualized what the borders settings of a cell are, thus to modify the current border settings, the user must guessed several settings and validate it by printing it, because the visual rendering is not accurate enough. Even if the visualization was accurate enough, the trial process is counter-productive.
Throwing this oldie to the design circuit per Telesto's tip.
Similar request different topic: Font color picker doesn't show current color (bug 100951)
We discussed the topic in the design meeting, actually focusing on bug 113606. This "highlight the current selection" would be a fall-out from switching from add to toggle (currently you add the clicked border configuration), but not for free. While the other ticket is easy to solve it might be not so simple to analyze the cell selection.
