Created attachment 56662 [details] MathType equation alignment illustration I am using Writer to produce documents that contain a large number of equations. To do so I use MathType since this software reduces my production time. The problem lies in the fact that the newly introduced equation are not automatically aligned with the text. I have checked the standard setting but I could not find one that is optimal for all equations. The best general setting I found is when I position as vertical "centre" to "character". In order to solve the issue I need to align the equations manually. See attached document for illustrations.

Thanks for bugreport. Indeed, problem with formulas exist. Currently we have workaround for this problem, using styles: Steps to produce style: 1. Press F11 to open Stylist pane 2. Select well formated formula 3. Click in right hand top corner of Stylist pane, select "New style from selection" 4. Type name for style (it will be "Frame style") Attachment from me contains Frame style "123". Steps to apply style: 1. Select newly inserted formula (or picture, or frame) 2. Doulbe click in Stylist pane needed style. So, each formula can be formatted by 3 mouse clicks. PS: for newly inserted formulas automatically applied style "OLE", but it can be edited only by editing internals of document. Currently impossible to edit it by UI.

If I understood right you suggest that - Format one equation as I would like it - Create a new style (say X) from the formatted equation - Apply style X to any new equation that I create I have tried to follow the above procedure and I have encountered the following problems: - Proper style can depend on the equation. For example when there is a fraction the style 123 that you have provided does not yield the optimal setting. This means that multiple styles need to be created depending on what is contained within the equation. If the number of styles increases substantially you can loose track to what each style can refer to making a copy and paste procedure of an already formatted equation more feasible. (I have adopted this procedure thus far.) - I could not transfer properly the provided style 123 to a new document. - What I had to do was to edit an equation using style 123 - Copy the edited equation to the new document - Create style 123 in the new document from the equation The style was now available in the new document (but only in that document). However, it did not work properly and started stretching the equations I wanted to format. The same thing suddenly started happening in the document you sent me. Have no idea what went wrong. Thanks for explanation of problem: For different formulas we need slightly different formatting. In result styles not helps very much, because too many styles needed. We needed some automation of formulas formatting. @ Pierre Farrugia May be such functionality already exist among extensions for OpenOffice or LibreOffice. PS: for copying styles from one document to another: File->Templates->Organize, then in dialog window choose "document" on bottom, source and target documents at top, double click documents for styles appear, drag and drop styles
