Description Gerry 2012-07-27 20:53:27 UTC
The AutoText dialog (Edit-> AutoText) has quite some usability problems.

A particular problem is that the AutoText dialog is modal. This has the negative effect that the user needs to first mark the part in the text which should become an AutoText and then start up the dialog. When the dialog is open it is neither possible to change the text selection nor to add more than one AutoText. Currently, it is always required to close the dialog before one can e.g. add another AutoText.

Solution: If the AutoText dialog would be modeless, this would greatly enhance usability.

LibreOffice 3.5.4 PPA, Ubuntu 11.10.

I can confirm this with LibreOffice 3.6.2.2 on Ubuntu 12.10.

By default, we don't have modeless dialogs. Admittedly the UI has room for improvements that are better handled in bug 52607.
