I could not reproduce this on LO 3.6.1.2 Windows Vista 32 bit.

What operating system are you using? Is it OSX?

Can you attach a sample document where this happens?
Comment 2 Josep 2012-09-12 07:42:15 UTC
My operating system is OS X 10.8.1 (Mountain Lion).

I don't know why, but this issue doesn't appear allways, but very often. Perhaps especialy with texts copied from mail (today at least I have had again this problem in relation to mail/LOffice). Sometimes a document where I had this problem, suddenly, has it no more.

You could do these steps:

1.- Either open LOffice and select Document of Text (Writer) or open some text you already have.

2.- Open mail. Select a piece of text (command + C) and past it in the Writer (command + V).

3.- Does appear the pasted text where you decided or rather at the end of the document and without format? This is the question.

Best regards.

To fix this, a reproducible example is required.

It is possible this is related to OSX. Or it could be something to do with the document you are pasting into, or the type of text you are pasting.

I am assuming by "mail" you mean the mail application that comes with OSX?
Comment 4 Josep 2012-09-13 20:58:07 UTC
Yes, by "mail" I'm referring to this application of the OS X. I receive mail allways formatted like plain text.

Might be related to
"Bug 44199 - EDITING: Text gets pasted at the wrong position"
"Bug 45312 - Copy and paste from external source doesn't work"
 what are DUPs of
"Bug 43869 - Paste special as RTF inserted at wrong position, undo stack damaged"

Marking as DUP because currently no chance to reproduce.

@Roman:
Ever heard of this problem?

@Josep:
Please feel free to reopen this Bug if you find evidence (for example: problem persists after fix for Bug 43869) that we have an independent issue here.

I have never noticed this problem myself in real-life work; AFAIK pasting always works correctly in LibO on Mac OS X. I have only seen this problem in testing, under the special circumstances decribed in bug 43869:

* If I check the option “Enable experimental (unstable) features”
  (in Preferences/Options > LibreOffice > General),
* and copy some formatted text in RTF (not HTML, etc.!) format,
* and then paste it into some Writer document,
→ the text is appended at the end of the document.

Therefore I agree that this bug is very probably a duplicate of bug 43869. I can not reproduce it by copying text from Mail, because I don’t use that application anymore (IMHO Thunderbird is saver ;-), and not when I copy some text from Thunderbird or Firefox (because these applications use HTML format for the clipboard), but whenever I copy some formatted text from an application which uses RTF format for the clipboard, e.g. from Apple’s TextEdit application.

@ Josep:
Please check: Do you have checked the option “Enable experimental (unstable) features” in the LibreOffice application Preferences, section Options > LibreOffice > General, at the bottom of the window?

Yes, I have checked it, but from now on I'll uncheck it. In fact, unchecking it this problem seems to disappear: I have tried now pasting a fragment of a mail message into a document, and I have had no problem. Perhaps the cause of this issue was this option?

Thanks a lot for your help.

> Perhaps the cause of this issue was this option?

Yes. This option activates -- besides many other things -- the usage of the new RTF parser for pasting text; and while the new RTF parser works fine now under most circumstances, pasting text with it is a still unfinished feature, therefore strange things happen (cf. bug 43869).

Thank you for testing!
