Created attachment 68205 [details] This is the broken document. Problem description: After saving a document in docx format, and reopening it in LibreOffice, text of footnotes is missing. The footnote numbers appear on the pages, but the text is missing. Steps to reproduce: 1. Add footnotes to a document 2. Save in .DOCX format 3. Reopen the document Current behavior: Footnotes are lost, although footnote locations are still visible. The file is reported as damaged when opened with Microsoft Word 2010. Note that the footnotes are missing both in Word and in LibreOffice Writer, this is not simply an interoperability issue. Expected behavior: Footnotes are saved and the document can be opened in MS Word. Platform (if different from the browser): Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 9.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/5.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; .NET4.0C; .NET4.0E; BRI/1)
Was this an existing document? In what format? Was it created in Word then edited in Libreoffice? Were any of the footnotes added in Word?
Answers to your questions: The document was created using Word 2012, with footnotes added. I edited the document in LibreOffice and added additional footnotes. The document was complete and intact during the editing process, but was found in an incorrect state after saving the document and trying to reopen it in LibreOffice.
Thanks for the additional info. Was it saved as .docx or .odt from Word 2012? Can you provide a more complete way to reproduce the bug (ideally with intermediate documents) eg: Produce file in Word 2012 with 2 footnotes Save as .docx Edit with LibO and add 2 footnotes Save as .docx Reopen - bug is seen Thanks
Additional data: > Was it saved as .docx or .odt from Word 2012? It was always a .docx file. If it's significant, I can confirm that we have Word 2010, not 2012. > Can you provide a more complete way to reproduce the bug (ideally with > intermediate documents) Unfortunately, no. I did add several footnotes intermixed with the original footnotes in the document, but I don't have a step-by-step recipe for you. I made a fairly long series of edits, saved the file, and then went to reopen it the next day, only to find it in a corrupted state. I don't have intermediate copies of the file as far as I know. I can tell you that the file was originally emailed to me; it may be that there is a permissions problem related to Windows settings on documents sent via email. But LibreOffice provided no feedback that the document was write-protected or otherwise unable to be saved. I hope this additional information is useful.
Since this is marked as Needinfo for a long time, I suggest this be marked as Resolved - Duplicate of Bug 58086 - FILESAVE: Some footnotes lost after filesave to docx.

I agree to that. If bug 58086 is fixed and it turns out that patch doesn't fix this same behavior, we can reopen this bug and dig deeper. Kind regards, Joren *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 58086 ***
