Created attachment 70761 [details] It's the latest file exhibiting the described result. Problem description: Steps to reproduce: 1. .... 2. .... 3. .... Current behavior: Expected behavior: 1. open file "mac.doc" 2. produces a short string (several lines) of gibberish assumed to be the prelude to the full file, shortened because one gibber is the EOF to a PC. Alternatively, it could be the MAC descriptor file that describes the text file to the MAC (I just thought of that). Or, perhaps, that file is prefixed to the delivered file. 3. I expected the text as produced by MSWORD or it's MAC equivalent. While you are dismissing my complaint, I'll explore the alternate with my source. In general, this program works reasonably well. I am moving to the open version from open office at my son's suggestion, and suffering from transplant shock. I believe I was annoyed at a couple of changes in gui or functionality that I'll report when I run into them again. Thanks for your interest. de Operating System: Windows (other)

To prevent annoying chains of duplicates: X --is duplicate of--> Y --is duplicate of--> Z ... let us mark this bug directly as a duplicate of bug 53909 ;-) This means good news: bug 53909 has been fixed, so the present bug should be fixed, too. The fix will appear in LibreOffice 3.6.4 and 4.0.0, so please check later, when these versions are released (or earlier, if you want to test some daily builds), if the sample file attached to *this* bug report now opens correctly, too. Thank you very much *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 53909 ***
