Description Onyx 2012-12-11 20:33:37 UTC
Have just installed 4.0Beta1-11 AMD64 Debs into LMDE 64 bit.
Started Writer, go to help-> About, application disappears. Start again through LODev4.0, help about works, Starting Writer from there works, as does Help About in that instance of Writer. Close all Libreoffice.
Start again from Libreoffice Writer, go to Help-About = CRASH.
After cancelling every Document Recovery, the Help About works. From Fresh start it fails.
Comment 1 Onyx 2012-12-11 20:37:04 UTC
Same issue occurs in Calc, NOT Draw NOT Impress, didn't try Base.
Comment 2 Onyx 2012-12-11 20:38:05 UTC
LO4 is noticeably faster than the previous version 3.54 that I had on this system; very snappy response! :D
Comment 3 dE 2012-12-12 12:04:46 UTC
If this bug is true, it's a blocker.

Verifying.........
Comment 4 dE 2012-12-13 06:32:31 UTC
Not reproducible with Version 4.0.0.0.beta1 (Build ID: 87906242e87d3ddb2ba9827818f2d1416d80cc7)

my version causing the issue:
4.0.0.0.beta1 (Build ID: 87906242e87d3ddb2ba9827818f2d1416d80cc7)

= same as yours not causing issue.

I will re-install it and report back.
Comment 6 Onyx 2012-12-13 06:55:42 UTC
Still fails after reinstall;
from terminal:
/opt/lodev4.0/program/soffice.bin --writer
click help-about,
result:
Segmentation fault

Will download packages again...
Comment 7 Onyx 2012-12-13 07:19:46 UTC
Same fault after fresh download...
will try another DE ( currently XFCE 4.8 )
Comment 8 Onyx 2012-12-13 07:25:34 UTC
Still faults in other DEs.

FYI: PC is a Dell n7110 laptop; i5-8gb, with nVidia 540m running bumblebee. OS is LMDE 64bit fully updated.
Any other information required?
Comment 9 Julien Nabet 2012-12-13 21:26:11 UTC
I don't reproduce this on pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated today (commit 634ee953f1d090871834f6bc53faafaa7b96b874)

Onyx: could you try to retrieve a backtrace (see http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport#How_to_get_a_backtrace_.28on_Linux.29)
Comment 10 Onyx 2012-12-13 21:50:59 UTC
@Julien Nabet:
please advise where I can find the necessary debug packages for AMD64 DEB.
"Install the libreoffice*-debuginfo packages (on Debian, Ubuntu and derivated, the package name is libreoffice-dbg)"
otherwise, there is no gdbtrace.log created.
Comment 11 Julien Nabet 2012-12-13 21:52:13 UTC
Onyx: I don't know if there's one (probably not).
Anyway, it could help core devs.
Comment 12 Jean-Baptiste Faure 2012-12-22 13:12:30 UTC
I do not reproduce this crash with Version 4.0.0.0.beta2+ (Build ID: d3b7a2bfe2a95153134f340c5a13a467de95a0d) under Ubuntu 12.04 x86_64

@reporter: Please could you try again with a daily build or the next beta2 ?
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/deb/x86_64/

Best regards. JBF
Comment 13 Julien Nabet 2012-12-22 14:03:01 UTC
Onyx: could you try to retrieve a strace file? (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport#How_to_get_a_strace_log_.28on_Linux.29)
Comment 14 Terrence Enger 2012-12-27 19:33:45 UTC
Using master commit eaf3c60, pulled 2012-12-18, configured with

    --enable-dbgutil
    --enable-crashdump
    --disable-build-mozilla
    --without-system-postgresql
    --without-myspell-dicts
    --without-help
    --with-extra-buildid

built and running on ubuntu-natty (11.04) 32-bit with ubuntu classic
(no effects) desktop, using first my installation options as they
happened to be and then with a new user profile, I see no crash.

However, the terminal output shows messages

    warn:legacy.osl:13637:1:/home/terry/lo_hacking/git/libo4/svgio/source/svgreader/svgtools.cxx:40: Unknown Base SvgToken <metadata> (!)

and similarly for <rdf:RDF>, <cc:Work>, <dc:format>, <dc:type>,
<dc:title>, <metadata>, <rdf:RDF>, <cc:Work>, <dc:format>, <dc:type>,
and <dc:title>,.

HTH,
Terry.

Have just installed and tested Beta2, problem is gone. Mark as fixed.
Comment 16 Julien Nabet 2012-12-29 08:21:09 UTC
Since there's no specific fix about this, put WFM.
