Problem description: Example: The word 'isnt' gets flagged as wrong. Once set to auto-correct to isn't, it works properly. However, if the word is used to start a sentence like 'isnt it nice out?', it only auto-corrects the spelling, not the capitalization: 'isn't it nice out?' Steps to reproduce: 1. ....type any word that contains an apostrophe, but leave it out, When the word is flagged, choose to auto-correct it withe the apostrophe in it. 2. ....Try the word in the middle of a sentence and see that it auto-corrects properly. 3. ....Try the word at the beginning of a sentence without capitalizing it or adding the apostrophe: the pgm auto-corrects the spelling, but not the capitalization. Current behavior: Auto-corrects only spelling of word. Expected behavior: Should auto-correct spelling AND capitalization. Operating System: Windows XP
When I type the sentence "isnt it nice out?" (without quotes) the auto-correct will capitalize the word "isnt" when I type it and hit enter to type the word "it". But, when I start the sentence with a " (quote) and first type the whole sentence, then remove the quote in front of the sentence I can reproduce a situation where the spelling isn't correct, as well as the capitalization. When I right click on the word "isnt" (without quotes), I can reproduce this bug. It only suggests the spelling, not to capitalize the word. Suggestion: the auto-correct and spelling control uses the settings of 'format -> auto-correction -> options for auto-correction. Reproduced with Mac OSX 10.8.2; LO 3.6.4.3 (Build-id: 2ef5aff) as well as LO 4.0.0.0.beta1 (Build-id: 87906242e87d3ddb2ba9827818f2d1416d80cc7) TinderBox: MacOSX TDF Release, Branch:libreoffice-4-0, Time: 2012-12-05_22:13:37
I've tested with 4.0 nightly build 2012/12/18 on XP and confirm this behaviour. I must add that the capitalization does not work, at least in my tests, if you are at the beginning of a new paragraph, but does after (when appropriate, of course). I mean if I write: isnt. isnt it auto-corrects this way: isn't. Isn't I've tried also with some default autocorrected words in Italian, same result. With Debain GNU/Linux and LiBo 3.6.1.2 (Build ID: 360m1(Build:2) I have the same bug.

retested under Win7x64 with 4.2.3.3 if I set the autocorrect entry "isnt -> isn't" and type the test: isnt. isnt it is corrected in: Isn't. Isn't so it works for me. can you confirm the bug has gone?
Created attachment 99233 [details] attachment-20119-0.html Not fixed here. Re imaged hard drive before installing, so no traces of any of old versions interefered. Now installed Version: 4.2.4.2 (Build ID: 63150712c6d317d27ce2db16eb94c2f3d7b699f). Here are results: I auto-corrected the word [isnt] in lower case (within a sentence) to be [isn’t]. I also auto-corrected it at the beginning of a sentence, so [Isnt] becomes [Isn’t]. Now to type something: There isn’t any way that by now there should be such an easily fixed bug within the program, but there still is. isn’t it a shame that it is still not working right, since I just started this sentence by typing [isnt] and it auto-corrected by adding the apostrophe but didn’t capitalize the word. isn’t it ever going to be fixed? I'll try another, that I set up in advance, using the word [didn’t]. I left out all the apostrophes as I type and see what happens: I didn’t do my homework last night. I didn’t know it was due today, did you? didn’t you do yours, either? We didn’t have time because we went to the ball game. didn’t we at least have a good time? isn’t it a shame we are going to be in trouble? didn’t this happen once before when we didn’t do our work? Again, not getting auto-corrected spelling AND capitalization. I typed the same paragraph in Word, and all was fixed as I went along: I didn’t do my homework last night. I didn’t know it was due today, did you? Didn’t you do yours either? We didn’t have time because we went to the ball game. Didn’t we at least have a good time? Isn’t it a shame we are going to be in trouble? Didn’t this happen once before when we didn’t do our work? Same page , attached. retested again under Win7x64 using LibO 4.2.4.2 I think I found where is your problem... go in "Tools/Autocorrect options/Options" put the flag on "T" in the "capitalize first letter of every sentence" option if you have that option flagged it works. if that option is not flagged I experience your issue. so I'm closing since it was not a bug but a matter of autocorrect option settings.
