Description Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2012-12-17 05:54:11 UTC
Steps to reproduce with "LibreOffice 3.6.4.3" German UI/ German Locale [Build-ID: 2ef5aff] {pull date 2012-11-28} on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) :
1. open Attachment 46857 [details] for Bug 37311
2. Save with different name in same format
3. Close
4. Try to open with MS Powerpoint Viewer (2010)
   Expected: opened without problems
Actual: Error message "Error when Access ..."

Document saved from 3.3.3 can be opened with MS PPT Viewer (cruelly damaged); no other versions between 3.3.3 and 3.4.5 tested
Operating System: Windows 7
Last worked in: 3.3.0 release

On pc Debian x86-64 with a brand new LO profile for each test:

3.6 sources updated today : pb reproduced
4.0 sources updated today : pb reproduced
4.1 sources updated today : pb not reproduced (I noticed it's not like the original)
Comment 2 Julien Nabet 2012-12-23 23:31:26 UTC
Sorry, I made a mistake.
I tested with 3.5.4.2 (Debian packages), 3.6 sources and master sources
Here are the size resulting:
-rw-r--r-- 1 julien julien 653985 dec. 24 00:10 report-1-slide.pptx
-rw-r--r-- 1 julien julien 607145 dec. 24 00:11 report-1-slide_3_6.pptx
-rw-r--r-- 1 julien julien 607145 dec. 24 00:12 report-1-slide_4_1.pptx
-rw-r--r-- 1 julien julien 403221 dec. 24 00:15 report-1-slide_3_5.pptx

I'll have to retest on Powerpoint 2010 the result of Powerpoint opening.

Michael/Thorsten/Rodo: I don't know if it's purely filter part or Impress, anyway one for you?

Rainer: I think we should consider this one as high/major since it seems export in pptx is broken. What's your opinion about this?
Comment 5 Julien Nabet 2012-12-25 14:04:41 UTC
Just for the test, I tried to disable the bullet substitution (in unotools/source/misc/fontcvt.cxx, function ConvertChar::RecodeChar).

I've been able to save the file with different name in a same format and no error message from Powerpoint.
Comment 6 Julien Nabet 2012-12-25 14:19:00 UTC
Michael, Caolan: put you on cc following the last hint found in unotools/source/misc/fontcvt.cxx (see https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58391#c5) + the fact you had already modified this file.

Works here as well. Opening test file with LO Version: 4.4.0.0.alpha2+
Build ID: a066acd8709ce69eae4fee3993dbb298e02eb8d5
TinderBox: MacOSX-x86_64@49-TDF, Branch:master, Time: 2014-11-09_09:59:47

Save as new pptx > opens fine with MS Powerpoint.

Also tried saving as new pptx under Win 8.1 with LO 4.3.3.2.
File then also opens fine in PowerPoint
