Company "Informatic" (since 1995 Informatic spell-checking modules are licensed by Microsoft Corp. and incorporated into Localized Russian MS Office) found many problems in spelling and grammar checking, completeness of dictionary, accuracy of wordforms recognition, hyphenation, etc. in LibreOffice / OpenOffice. Product announcements are not bug reports.
(In reply to comment #1) > Product announcements are not bug reports. Where did you found product announcements? File http://www.informatic.ru/download/libre.doc shows concrete errors in spelling and grammar with detailed description. Developers who are responsible for this area must corrected that problems!
Link to developer site is intended solely to verify that information is given by company, professionally engaged in these issues.

Developers who are > responsible for this area must corrected that problems! Please file a different bug report for each bug according to http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport based on that article. Also please remember that this bug tracker system is English only. I won't change status of this bug again but still think that link to a product announcement as a description with link to Russian language document is not a valid bug report and won't help non-Russian developers to fix anything.

Okay, I'll try to make new bug reports for each bug. > Also please remember that this bug tracker system is English only. But I'm shure that developers involved in Russian spelling and grammar checking just have to know Russian language.
It appears that I can not add new words to my dictionary Every time I use the word "sacramentally" it is underlined in red. When I add it to the dictionary the underlining disappears. However, the next time I use the word "sacramentally" it is underlined in red again. When I was using version 3.? I used to get an indication that the word was being added to the standard dictionary. I no longer get that feedback.
It worth noting that the dictionary was not updated since 1990s and lack elementary features introduced after ispell: compounding, profanity filtering, Ye/Yo control, etc. The best course of action in this situation would be dropping the bundled dictionary as unmaintainable and delegate the Russian spellcheck functions to 3rd party extensions.

For grammar, the LanguageTool (www.languagetool.org) extension currently has 217 rules for Russian.
*** Bug 76364 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Libreoffice does not maintain the bundled dictionary. Hunspell cannot perform the checks ORFO can. Use ORFO plugin instead.
The grammar and spelling check does not work: after I select the appropriate language (for which the check function is installed) nothing happens. I have included spelling errors in the text to be checked and I would expect suggested alternatives for the spelling. but the windows remains blank. I am running windows10. On other computers running windows7 Everithing is O.K. If I run theprogram in windows7 compatibility. nothing changes. Cn you help me? Thanks. G.Gelato
For grammar checking you can use LanguageTool. For Russian, LanguageTool-4.8 implements over 780 grammar checking rules. See https://www.languagetool.org/ru For spell checking, hyphenation, thesaurus you can use Russian dictionary pack. - 0.4.4 https://extensions.libreoffice.org/extensions/russian-dictionary-pack/0-4.4
Dear Timon, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone! Warm Regards, QA Team MassPing-UntouchedBug
Archived version of the above document: https://web.archive.org/web/20221017102735/http://www.informatic.ru/download/libre.doc @Stéphane: Can you check if the issue is still valid? Although the report might be helpful, I think complaining about multiple issues described in an external document can not be a valid bug report.
