It seems LibreOffice will not successfully open .hwp (Korean suffix) document files. Perhaps, the older .hwp files would open but newer .hwp document files will only open to show random characters (for example, yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx etc.). Is it possible to make LibreOffice open hwp document files normally (or without the random characters)?

Please attach a sample document that does not open correctly.

I have same Issue with Ubuntu Linux version.

The newer versions that I've received from the Korean government or Korean universities only open with "unintelligible random characters." Such as; "#######"

This is a newer HWP file from university that does not open correctly.

The format implemented in LO is an old format and so called "3.x" format. Newer 5.x format (since 2002) is a different format based on OLE compound document.
