LibO start up screen shot with indication of errors

Problem description:

When using the Japanese language interface LibO text displayed in menus etc are not correctl. Not correctly means either font is too small but readable or (most often) katakana characters are displayed only as small rectangles.

Steps to reproduce:
1. open LibO
2. via options change UI to Japanese
3. restart LibO
4. problem is already to be seen on the start screen (see my attachement)

Current behavior:

As described above

Expected behavior:
Correct display of katakana characters

Note:
I checked various menus and it appears to me that only the katakana characters are wrongly displayed. However, it would be good to have a Japanese native speaker involved. If one is known, I am willing to work with him. I am living in Japan.
In 3.6.6.2 I observed the same bug.

As for my OS:

XP Prof, Asian Language support package, SP3

I work always with English (US) UI and change only my languages. When writing Japanese I do not observe such errors. It is only in the LibO menus.

Is it a font issue?

Is this bug still valid / reproducible with the latest pre-release 4.2.0.1: http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/

Please also try resetting your user profile and let us know if that helps: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile

Should this be still reproducible for you with the latest LO release please set this bug back to UNCONFIRMED. Should this issue be solved set it to WORKSFORME.

Setting to NEEDINFO until more detail is provided.
