Description Zoltán Hegedüs 2013-10-15 16:12:44 UTC
If I start the selecting a part of text with Shift+PageUp/PageDown, it manages only when I press the PageUp/PageDown key only 1 time. If I press again, the selection disappears as I should unbend the key Shift, but the key Shift was keeped pressed continuously. I can continue the selection with the 4 cursor keys. If I start the selection with one of the 4 cursor keys, and later I switch to PageUp/Pagedown (while I am keeping pressed the key Shift continuously), the result is the same, as I should unbend the key Shift, the selection disappears.

This error happened in an older version, I do not remember the version number (3.5 or 3.6), and then corrected. The error come back (appeared again).
Operating System: Windows XP
Version: 4.0.5.2 release

Test of PageDown key
Comment 2 Dominique Boutry 2013-10-28 09:33:21 UTC
I noticed a behaviour with PageDown key (without any selection) which may be underlying to the present bug case. When I press successive PageDown key on the attachment 88218 [details], I see 2 cases :
- either the press causes both a scroll and a movement of the caret relative to the text,
- or the press causes only a scroll (the caret remains tighten to the same text character, it may be hiden or not, after that).

Now in conjunction with the area selection : Shift + PageDown key causes :
- a visible growing of the selected area,
- a simple scroll without growing of the selected area, its bottom remaining visible,
- a simple scroll and the bottom of the selected area becoming hiden, eventually making the user think that the whole selection has gone.

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

*Test to see if the bug is still present on a currently supported version of LibreOffice (4.4.1 or later)
   https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

*If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the version of LibreOffice and your operating system, and any changes you see in the bug behavior

*If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a short comment that includes your version of LibreOffice and Operating System

Please DO NOT

   *Update the version field
*Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
*Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:

1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3)

http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to "inherited from OOo";
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add "regression" to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=libreoffice-qa

Thank you for your help!

One important caveat to this issue is that you must go slow - if you rapidly push pg down then it works fine.

In terms of a bibisect - this one is crazy as it appears throughout 44max, but not in 35all...I thought he packages overlapped but maybe there's some range of commits that are not covered?

cc'ing Robinson to get his input - might not be bibisectable.
