Created attachment 91392 [details] File illustration the bug Hello, I noticed a bug in the incoming Libreoffice 4.2.0. WRITER module. When a drawing created using DRAW from the 4.1.3 version, all combined drawings are disconnected. Steps to reproduce 1. Open DRAW and creat any drawing (ex: see attached file) 2. Combine the lines 3. Save DRAW file 4. Copy the drawing 5. Open a WRITER file & paste the drawing 6. Save the file. When open using LibO 4.3.1, the drawing is fine; but when edited using LibO 4.2.0, the drawing is disconnected. Hope that this description will help and sorry if this is a duplicate. Cheer
Hi, I can't reproduce, I've done the same presentation as on your file and when I copy/past the three lines on Writer, then save the file and reopen all is ok. I've tried with forms and connectors, without grouping them. All is ok. I've tried also to group the objects on Draw, then paste on Writer, save and reopen, they are still grouped. I'm closing the bug as Worksforme, please try with the RC2 if you can still reproduce, thanks - My OS is Ubuntu 13.10 x86_64 Version: 4.2.0.1 Build ID: 7bf567613a536ded11709b952950c9e8f7181a4a - Sophie
Created attachment 91552 [details] DRAW file Hello, I tried to do the same with and without grouping. I got the same result. Here my DRAW file so as you can try using it WRITER. Bunty
I tried separetly the same thing i.e. 3 lines without grouping and 3 line grouped. Yes the drawing is not disconnected. Yet when I tried with 3 lines combined, the drawing is always disconnected. I tried another thing. I made the same drawing using LibO 4.2. Copy and paste in a WRITER file using LibO 4.1.3. Close everything and then edited the WRITER file using LibO4.2. This times the drawing is not disconnected. This is quite annoying since if I migrate to LibO 4.2, I'll be forced to modify every of my numerous drawing done under older versions of LibO. Hope that this bug will find a solution before final release. Bunty
From what I read this is NoRepro:4.2.0.1:Linux? You write "When open using LibO 4.3.1, the drawing is fine; but when edited using LibO 4.2.0, the drawing is disconnected." which seems to contradict sophies findings that editing in 4.2.0.1 works. Since it seems to be an issue with 4.2 and newer opening old 4.1.x files setting back to NEW. Not sure, if the files get damaged using 4.1 there's a way to fix them now.
Created attachment 91903 [details] DRAW file Hello, I was trying to test the same bug under WINDOWS XP SP3 when I noticed the the same disconnection occurs also in LibO 4.2.0 RC1 DRAW. In the attached file, I put a combined "I", a grouped "I" and an ungrouped "I". You can notice that only the combined "I" get disconnected. By the way, I get the same result under WINDOWS. Bunty
Created attachment 91925 [details] DRAW file Hello, Just installed the RC2 version of LibO 4.2.0. When both the WRITER en DRAW files are edited, I got the same result as described formerly. Hope that a patch can be found eaas indicate
Sorry, comment not yet finish. Hope that a patch can be found easily found as indicate by FOSS Bunty
Fixed by same commit as bug 73355. Tested with Version: 4.2.0.3.0+ Build ID: b09fae12aaae3519559a1915d258525b5fbcfbca Best regards. JBF *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 73355 ***
Hello, Just installed the RC3 version of LibO 4.2.0.3 Build ID: c63c03decdf780d8fb80823950665b782ec9ecd0 When the WRITER file is edited, I got the same result as described formerly. Yet when I proceed as Regina Henschel described in Bug 73355 comment 6, the drawing is no more disconnected. Maybe this can be a temporary solution to those who wish to migrate towards LibO 4.2 when it'll be released. Nevertheless, I don't understand why the status is marked as "UNCONFIRMED" since it has also been described in Bug 73355. Best regards. BS
(In reply to comment #9) > [...] > Nevertheless, I don't understand why the status is marked as "UNCONFIRMED" > since it has also been described in Bug 73355. It is a change by yourself ;-) You can check that with the history link. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_activity.cgi?id=73204 Set back to Resolved / duplicate Best regards. Created attachment 92769 [details] DRAW file to illustrate the disconnections I discovered another very annoying disconnection concerning LibO 4.2. When I edited a document containing some other drawings, every of all my drawings are disconnected, although I've chosen "1.2 Extenden (compat)" option. I've made a DRAW file to illustrate this problem. Hope that can help further to make LibO 4.2 better before the final release. BS
Surbun, the Caolán McNamara's patch is not included in 4.2.0.3 Build ID: c63c03decdf780d8fb80823950665b782ec9ecd0. According to bug 73355 comment 17 it will be presented in LibreOffice 4.2.1. Also, it is available in daily builds. Can you reproduce your problem in daily builds which include the patch?

Thanks for your reply. I'll wait for some 24 to 48 hours and download the available daily build so as to see if the problem is still there. I'll put a comment after that. BS
Hello, I tried to download the linux package from http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/libreoffice-4-2/, so as to verify if the bug issu I described in comment 11 is still there or not. Unfortunately, there's only packages for MacOS and Windows versions. Can someone tells me where can I get the deb package. Thanks for your help. BS
Hello. You can try daily builds for 4.3 branch (master), which are available for more platforms. The problem described in comment 11 can be related to bug 73814
(In reply to comment #15) > Hello. > > You can try daily builds for 4.3 branch (master), which are available for > more platforms. > > The problem described in comment 11 can be related to bug 73814 Alexandr - I just want to test if the bug is still there as you asked in comment 12. That's why I asked for help. Thanks BS
Surbun, I asked the question about daily builds of 4.2 for Linux in QA mailing list: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/Libreoffice-qa-Daily-builds-of-LibreOffice-4-2-for-Linux-td4094358.html It seems the only way is building yourself. But Caolán McNamara's patches (both for bug 73355 and bug 73814) have been pushed to master too. So, you can test them there.
Now LibreOffice 4.2.0 RC4, which contains the patches, is available. It can be downloaded from http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/
